TIME FRAME: This is a short term, seasonal position.April 21 - May 9, 2025POSITION SUMMARY: As the Rewards Tent Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the Recycling Rewards program at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, managing two public sort stations. Your primary responsibility is to ensure the efficient and organized sorting of recyclable materials, contributing to the success of the program and enhancing the experience for festivalgoers participating in the Recycling Rewards initiative. This role requires strong organizational skills, effective communication with a variety of vendors, attention to detail, and a commitment to sustainability practices in line with Jazz Fest's ethos.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:- Manage daily operations of the sort stations, where recyclable materials are sorted by hand.
- Ensure the proper categorization of materials (e.g., aluminum, plastic) in accordance with recycling guidelines.
- Supervise and lead a team of volunteers and paid workers (Rewards Tent Captains).
- Conduct training sessions to ensure all team members understand the sorting process and maintain a high standard of accuracy.
- Provide regular updates on sorting progress and address any challenges faced by the team.
- Record and document relevant data for reporting purposes.
- Assist in the distribution and tracking of incentives for participants returning with their sorted recyclables.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and provide feedback for program enhancement.
- Implement adjustments to optimize efficiency and increase the overall effectiveness of the Recycling Rewards program.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
- Attend and complete any required training.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:- Customer service experience, including conflict resolution and team management.
- Proven leadership skills in staff and volunteer coordination.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
- Passion for environmental sustainability and recycling (preferred).
- Proficient in Google Spreadsheets, Docs, and other digital tools.
- Hands-on recycling work, including sorting materials by type (aluminum, plastic).
- Lifting and transporting bags of recyclable materials (up to 50 lbs).
- Navigating large outdoor spaces quickly.
- Working outdoors for extended periods (10-12 hours per day) during festival dates (April 24-27, May 1-4).
REQUIREMENTS:- Utilize the Absentee Request Form for accurate reporting of absenteeism to the Human Resources Office.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive issues.
- Attend and complete any required training.
- Surrender any document, computer program, design, or intellectual property created for the Jazz Festival to the Festival at the end of each production year or upon request.
- Complete all required Feedback Forms and Final Reports.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
