Job purposeThe Environmental Health and Safety Manager is an integral part of the Amprod, LLC corporate team. We support growing manufacturing companies in Springfield, Strafford, and Kansas City, Missouri.
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations within a manufacturing facility. They play a critical role in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and training programs to promote a safe and environmentally friendly work environment. The EHS Manager collaborates with various departments to identify potential hazards, mitigate risks, and maintain the highest standards of workplace safety and environmental protection.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Actively engage and be visible with team members at all levels to promote a culture of openness and accountability regarding EHS matters.
- Act as the subject matter expert on health, safety, and environmental compliance, ensuring adherence to OSHA, EPA, and other standards. This may include working with 3rd parties or outside agencies when professional experience is limited in key compliance areas throughout the EHS team.
- Establish and monitor EHS performance metrics, providing regular updates to senior leadership.
- Drive initiatives to foster a culture of safety and environmental responsibility throughout the organization.
- Lead, mentor, set clear expectations, and develop the EHS team, fostering a high-performance and collaborative environment.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate EHS initiatives into daily operations.
- Oversee regular safety and environmental audits, walkthroughs, and inspections to identify and mitigate risks.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and training programs to ensure a safe and compliant workplace.
- Manage safety training programs, including new hire onboarding and job-specific training (e.g., Lockout/Tagout, CPR/First Aid, Fire Extinguisher use).
- Oversee investigations of incidents/accidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Oversee environmental compliance programs, including waste management, air quality, and spill prevention initiatives.
- Administer and oversee the workers' compensation program, ensuring timely and effective case management.
- Collaborate with HR and medical providers to facilitate safe and timely return-to-work processes, including accommodation reviews.
- Maintain up-to-date physical job requirements and perform ergonomic assessments to enhance team member safety. This includes the coordination of pre-employment physicals and drug screens as well.
- Ensure timely submission of required reports to regulatory agencies and maintain accurate records of EHS performance, training, and audits.
- Prepare and present EHS performance summaries to senior management and recommend improvements.
- Responsible for safety and compliance with field operations/install crews when they are working with customers.
- Responsible for ongoing training to make sure that knowledge is up to date. This includes attending conferences, taking any necessary courses or trainings.
QualificationsEducation- Bachelor's degree in environmental health and safety, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, or a related field is preferred. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications are a plus.
Specialized Knowledge and Experience- Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in EHS management within a manufacturing environment.
- Deep knowledge of local, state, and federal EHS regulations.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and associated safety hazards.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills to assess risks and develop effective solutions.
- Experience in conducting EHS training sessions and managing employee engagement initiatives.
- Familiarity with waste management, emergency response planning, and incident investigation techniques.
- Ability to drive change and promote a positive safety culture within the organization.
Skills and AbilitiesPC Skills- Proficiency in EHS-related software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Travel This position requires travel between facilities mainly in Southwest Missouri and Kansas City, as well as potentially travelling for other activities. Travel could be up to 10%.
