The EHS Division Manager is responsible for providing leadership and direction in all aspects of health and safety to assigned division of Mittera. This position will develop and implement safety policies, training programs, support local EHS teams, lead audits and investigations, and will work closely with corporate and each business unit to establish and maintain a system that promotes a culture of safe working practices across the company.
Supervisory Responsibilities- Organizes and oversees safety initiatives and programs of EHS Coordinators
- Ensures EHS Coordinators manage their departments efficiently and in accordance with company goals
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive
- Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Partner with each Business Unit within assigned division to ensure compliance with all Federal, State and Local
- Align corporate and local EHS goals and strategies
- Will work with all other EHS Division Managers when creating companywide safety initiatives, policies and procedures
- Lead, develop, and manage local EHS staff members
- Lead EHS audits and inspections developing remediation plans as needed
- Lead multimedia environmental compliance workshops on water, waste, air, storm water and green initiatives
- Build and maintain positive relationships with federal, state, and local regulators
- Lead a continuous improvement initiative regarding EHS policies and programs
- Manage budgets
- Develop and lead employee training programs
- Help develop controls for identified hazards, coordinate the implementation of controls that result of hazard analysis
- Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of the hazard control system, policies and procedures and recommend changes that reflect improved opportunities to eliminate workplace accidents and injuries
- Oversee the Worker's Compensation Insurance Program by partnering with vendors, medical facilities, and brokers to increase effectiveness of processes and procedures
- Partner with Human Resources to manage OSHA 300 log
- Ability to travel as required to all locations within the network. 25%-30%
- Ensures compliance with applicable OSHA and EPA federal and state rules, regulations, policies and guidelines and Company safety rules
- Supports Safety Committees and participates as requested or needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Skills and Abilities- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Chemical Engineering, Business, Industrial Management, or related field and 2-5 years of relevant experience in a health and safety field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must have knowledge of local, state, and federal safety regulations
- Requires knowledge of safety and environmental programs as well as workers compensation
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as exposure levels, force, concentrations, emissions, discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Demonstrated skills in leadership, organization, and communication across all levels of the company are necessary
- Ability to anticipate problems and implement appropriate preventative measures
- Ability to develop new techniques for work processes
- Must be able to give technical direction to others and project leadership over multiple safety teams
- Ability plan, prioritize and follow through on projects assigned with minimal supervision
Physical Requirements- Requires use of proper body mechanics with pushing, pulling, reaching, lifting, squatting, kneeling and bending
- Pushing/pulling and lifting up to 50 lbs
- Requires fine motor hand and arm movement, manual dexterity and coordination
- Requires near visual acuity
- Requires working around and operating departmental equipment
- Must be able to access and navigate each department in the facility
- Requires the ability to function in a professional manner under stressful circumstances
