As part of our ongoing growth and expansion, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Fishery Biologist - Seal Animal Captures to support an upcoming long-term contract that we are bidding on (This will be a contingent position, based upon contract award). Lynker will be operating under FLOAT - A "Fish" and "Lynker" Ocean Alliance Team - a Joint Venture Prime contract holder for NOAA ProTech Fisheries*.
ResponsibilitiesDuties of the Senior Fishery Biologist - Seal Animal Captures: Capture and handle animals to collect biological samples in the field. This includes, but is not limited to the collection, processing, and storage of biological materials. Research activities may include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:
1. Capture, handle, sample, and tag (i.e flipper and satellite) various pinniped species of different age classes under guidelines specified in scientific research permit.
2. Sedate and monitor animals as necessary during sampling activities.
3. Prepare for and de-stage from capture events. This includes: inventorying gear and sampling supplies; preparing field sampling kits; preparing or modifying data collection forms; cleaning and storing equipment after captures are done; logging, storing, and shipping samples according to sample requirements.
4. Process, store, dispose and analyze biological samples
5. Provide field activity and analysis summaries required for MMPA research permit.
Maintain and operate small boats. Research activities may include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:
1. Maintain and operate NOAA research vessels to conduct field research
2. Compliance with NOAA small boat operation procedures
QualificationsMinimum Requirements of the Senior Fishery Biologist - Seal Animal Captures:• An veterinarian qualified to sedate, monitor, and recover wild marine mammals during capture events
