POSITION SUMMARY
Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is excited to add a Part Time Recreation Assistant to the team! This position will work approximately 19 hours per week and will be based at Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center and Second Ward Gym. The incumbent will assist with planning and implementation of recreation programs and activities. In addition, they will participate in membership promotions and enrollment, communicate facility policies to patrons, give tours of the facility and provide information to visitors. The selected candidate will also oversee the gymnasium when in use and keep patrons informed of operating hours due to special events. Typical hours for this position will vary but could consist of daytime hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business and facility needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Provide customer service and handling of funds in a recreation center or park facility through telephone, emails, web site, social media and walk in patrons and customers for information, program registration, center daily use and rentals
• Ensure safety of participants/spectators and administer first aid when necessary
• Enforce rules and regulations
• Collect fees and taking registrations for recreational programs and facility rentals
• Assist in light maintenance of facilities and recreational areas
• Referee at various sports activities; provide services as timekeeper, scorekeeper or lineperson at games
• Assist with various recreational programs for all ages
• Handle inquiries and complaints from public
• Assist with special events and field trips
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: No experience required.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted?: N/A
Licenses and Certifications: Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License and County Driving Privileges; CPR/First Aid
Computer Skills: General knowledge of various computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite
