Senior Water Resources Engineer/Technical Lead
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Requires a Bachelorβs degree in Water Resources Engineering and 5 years of experience in job offered or 5 years of experience in the Related Occupation
RELATED OCCUPATION:
Project Engineer or any other job title performing the following job duties:
1. Serving as a hydrology and hydraulics engineer on water and transportation drainage projects, including updates to master drainage plans, analysis of land development impacts, culvert designs, storm sewer network analysis, and stormwater detention basin modeling.
2. Performing hydrologic and hydraulic numerical modeling using various software including HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY-8, XPSWMM/PCSWMM, and Excel spreadsheets. Providing planning and design recommendations for water resources and transportation drainage projects.
3. Using ArcGIS tools to pre- and post-process hydrologic and hydraulic modeling data, including the preparation of drainage report exhibits and maps. Preparing drainage report tables and figures using Excel spreadsheets.
4. Helping prepare and reviewing drainage reports and technical memorandums for various water resources and transportation drainage projects.
5. Assisting senior engineers and project managers in reviewing water resources models including HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and XPSWMM/PCSWMM, drainage reports, and proposals for various local development projects including preparing project submittal packages, attending project meetings, identifying project tasks, and monitoring project deadlines.
6. Serving as a reviewer of hydrologic and hydraulic models, drainage plans, and reports for local municipalities.
7. Reviewing hydrologic and hydraulic models, spreadsheet calculations, and drainage study reports prepared by other engineers and provided comments.
8. Conducting field visits to collect modeling data including culvert/bridge sizes, roadside ditch ponding pictures, and open channel dimensions.
9. Improving technical and non-technical engineering skills through continuous learning and attending workshops.
10. Mentoring interns and preparing and presenting hydrologic and hydraulic modeling workshops.
