The candidate will work alongside faculty, graduate students, and other research professionals to conduct cutting-edge research that advances knowledge in pediatrics. The faculty member will be expected to develop an independent research program with external grant funding, to lecture in the School of Medicine, to mentor junior faculty, residents, and students, and to support other activities in the Department as needed. A strong publication record and experience as a funded principal investigator is strongly desired. Current funded projects representing partial salary support is desired but not required at time of application. Pediatrics is a vibrant, growing Department at Saint Louis University.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, conduct, and analyze experiments related to ongoing research projects in pediatrics.
- Develop and optimize laboratory protocols and methodologies for data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
- Maintain detailed records of experimental work, including data analysis and troubleshooting strategies.
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at academic conferences.
- Collaborate with faculty members, graduate students, and other researchers to ensure successful completion of projects.
- Assist in the preparation of grant proposals and contribute to securing external research funding.
- Mentor and supervise undergraduate and graduate students in laboratory techniques and research methodologies.
- Manage laboratory equipment, supplies, and maintain a safe and organized work environment.
- Stay up to date with the latest developments in the field and incorporate new techniques or theories into research.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D.
- Strong background vascular biology
- Experience with animal models, cell culture and genetic technology.
- Proven ability to design, execute, and troubleshoot complex experiments.
- Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
- Experience in preparing and writing research grant proposals is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively share research results and collaborate with colleagues.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team in a dynamic academic environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in genetics, vascular biology and pediatrics.
- Postdoctoral experience or significant research experience in an academic or clinical research setting.
- Familiarity with advanced data analysis techniques and software.
