The purpose of this job is to use complex equipment to collect and transport refuse, recycling, and bulk waste. Conducts inspections. Serves as the lead refuse collector for a rear load truck and works independently operating a front load truck, roll-off truck and automated side loading truck.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities - The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. - Serves as lead refuse collector for two-person collection vehicle in collection and transportation of refuse and recycling materials.
- Operates roll-off truck, front load truck, rear load truck and automated side loading truck in the collection and transportation of refuse and recycling materials. Empties dumpsters and roll carts; conducts bulk pickups. Drives truck to and from collection and dump sites.
- Drives, rides, and/or stands on rear of truck for collection of refuse/recycling material.
- Assists with collection of large items as necessary.
- Ensures safety procedures are followed.
- Provides training and guidance to other employees.
- Performs maintenance related to trucks, dumpsters, and compactors.
- Conducts pre and post-trip inspections.
- Completes and updates route sheets, check lists and service request forms.
- Assists with additional route(s) as needed.
- Completes paperwork as required.
- Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- No supervisory authority. Work does require providing guidance and training to others.

Education and Experience - An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1 to 3 years' experience driving a commercial vehicle.
Licenses or Certifications
- Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with no airbrake restriction.
- Department of Transportation (DOT) medical certification.

HOURS: Monday - Friday; 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Will be required to work independently on an assigned route collecting recycling material from commercial customers (Cardboard, Mixed Containers and Cardboard Bales). Must be able to push and pull full containers to and from collection vehicle and be able to lift cardboard bales. Will operate various collection vehicles (Rear Loader, Front Loader, Mini Roll, and Box Truck). Will be asked to do other duties as assigned. Some weekend work will be required.
