Summary
As a Solar Program Manager, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the operations of multiple solar projects across a defined region. You will lead a team of project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and support staff to ensure that all projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This position requires you to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and key stakeholders while ensuring operational excellence and business growth across your region. You will collaborate closely with the Solar Operations leadership team to achieve the goals of the company's renewable energy program. This position reports directly to the Director of Solar Operations, with significant opportunities for growth within the organization.
The initial focus of this role will be managing a large solar portfolio for a key client in the Southeastern U.S. As the program expands, responsibilities may evolve to include additional clients, regions, and strategic initiatives within the company's solar division.
Key Responsibilities
• Regional Program Leadership: Provide strategic leadership for solar projects across the region, ensuring that all projects align with the company's overall goals and objectives. Manage and oversee multiple projects simultaneously, directing project managers and teams to ensure successful project completion.
• Team Management and Development: Lead, mentor, and support a multidisciplinary team of project managers, engineers, estimators, and subcontractors. Foster a collaborative culture that promotes high performance, continuous learning, and personal development within your team.
• Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, ensuring their needs are met, and their expectations are exceeded. Work closely with clients to ensure timely communication, resolve issues, and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Business Development: Collaborate with the business development team to identify new opportunities and secure contracts in your region. Grow and strengthen the company's market presence by leveraging your network and project successes.
• Financial Performance and Budget Management: Monitor and manage the financial performance of solar projects across the region, ensuring projects are delivered within budget, on time, and profitably. Work closely with project managers and financial teams to track financial metrics and identify opportunities for cost savings or improvement.
• Safety Management: Ensure that all solar projects are conducted safely and comply with relevant safety regulations and company safety standards. Promote a safety-first culture throughout the region and ensure all team members are properly trained on safety protocols.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Coordinate with other departments, including procurement, engineering, and HR, to ensure the availability of resources, resolve operational issues, and meet project deadlines. Regularly report on project status, progress, and performance to senior leadership.
Key Requirements
• Education: Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: At least 7-10 years of experience in solar project management, with a proven track record of successfully overseeing and delivering large-scale solar projects. Experience managing multiple projects in a regional capacity is a plus.
• Technical Skills: Strong technical knowledge of solar energy systems, including ground-mount and roof-mount installations, electrical racking systems, and EPC processes. Familiarity with utility-scale solar projects is highly preferred.
• Leadership and Management: Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and manage a diverse team across multiple projects and locations. Experience in managing cross-functional teams and driving results through collaborative efforts.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams. Ability to present information clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
• Safety Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and best practices related to solar installations and construction operations.
• Travel: Willingness to travel extensively across the region to oversee projects and meet with clients and stakeholders.
