The Ford Quality Team is responsible for driving continuous improvement efforts that enable Ford to deliver the highest quality products and services.
In this position... Apply engineering principles & analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products. Contain, track and analyze contamination issues, as well as work with suppliers and stakeholders to ensure resolutions.
ResponsibilitiesWhat you'll do...- Work with Incoming Quality to identify top supplier for contamination or material concern.
- Organize site visits and continuous improvement meetings with suppliers, to close open issues.
- Work with Resident Engineering to develop and implement contamination action plans.
- Work with departments on potential sources of contamination from review of warranty and engine teardowns
- Support off-shift problem solving activities
- Monitor effectiveness of dunnage wash process and washer utilization.
- Establish washing procedure and processes for production dunnage cleaning
- Work with production, on the dunnage wash schedule, and provide report for 'Actual vs Plan', to be reviewed for continuous improvement.
- Report effectiveness of Dunnage wash process in daily quality meetings
- Schedule and organize department GEMBA walks to effectively monitor the closure to open issues.
- Update and post monthly Contamination Health Charts
- Identify type and size of contamination samples or metallurgical defects
- Work with external labs, as necessary, on determining root cause or source of contaminants
- Ability to coach as necessary both salary and hourly.
QualificationsYou'll have... - Bachelors Degree in Manufacturing, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or applicable Engineering degree
- 3+ Years of Experience
Even better, you may have...- Previous automotive and/ or quality analysis experience
- Knowledge of casting metallurgy and process procedures
- Knowledge of Powertrain procedures, specifically related to Contamination and Ford Production System (FPS) Principles
- Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism in difficult and stressful situations
- Two-way communicator who actively listens to hourly team members, leaders, business partners and customers
- Highly committed to continuous improvement, while applying innovative solutions with a customer first mindset
- Proficiency in use of problem solving tools (Six Sigma, DOE, 8D, 5 Why, etc)
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Self-starter, with the ability to be self-directed in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
- Prior experience working with a unionized workforce
