- The environmental manager drives the vision of the compliance program and leads a team of environmental specialists in designing strategic environmental compliance policies and procedures across all business units.
- This position will be held with self-motivation, enthusiasm, and conviction while fostering a supportive relationship with operating departments.
- This position requires a combination of office and fieldwork and occasional overnight travel.

- Responsible for:
- Monitoring overall environmental compliance performance
- Managing environmental consultants
- Overseeing compliance with environmental plans and permits
- Managing the submittal of environmental compliance reports
- Managing regulatory deadlines
- Managing regulators and regulatory inspections
- Overseeing multiple environmental remediation projects
- Assessing remediation strategies
- Managing environmental consultants and annual budgets
- Developing and reviewing remediation reports
- Maintaining a positive and productive working relationship with environmental agencies and adjacent residential communities
- Representing the company at environmental organizations and in environmental groups and committees
- Managing environmental releases and other environmental emergency responses.
- Works independently with consultants, contractors, and legal counsel
- Manages and oversees a team of environmental professionals, ensuring their work aligns with the organization's environmental policies, compliance with regulations and sustainability goals by developing and implementing environmental strategies, monitoring performance and collaborating with various departments and stakeholders.
- Identify environmental risks and opportunities for improvement across operations.
- Stay updated on relevant environmental regulations and industry best practices.
- Communicate environmental performance metrics and updates to senior management.
- Educate employees about environmental policies and procedures.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS - BS degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Chemistry, or related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) certifications are preferred.
- Experience working in the US Southeast (EPA Region IV), GA, SC, and NC is preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience managing environmental compliance programs, and sufficient exposure to management of safety programs.
- Experience managing others is strongly preferred.
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must be technology-driven and proficient in the use of software, particularly Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must meet the criteria for obtaining a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
- Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
