What We Need YOU To Do: The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to be our newest environmental manager in the Division of Surface Water (DSW), working at our Central Office in Columbus, Ohio.
Here we go. As Ohio EPA's environmental manager, you'll plan and manage the Compliance section of the Division of Surface Water. You'll direct statewide compliance policy, procedures, and guidance, while overseeing template and report development. You'll provide statewide training as it relates to division compliance, as well as providing management support to the DSW Enforcement Program, such as with enforcement case decision-making, enforcement case tracking, and development of an updated enforcement database.
You'll direct the development of all non-compliance-related reports for National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permitted facilities, working with compliance coordinators to identify those in significant noncompliance and assisting districts in tracking Notice of Violation letters and Resolution of Violation letters. You'll set compliance follow-up priorities for district inspectors and oversee the compliance statuses in the Integrated Compliance Information System for all NPDES permitted facilities.
Additionally, you'll direct the issuance of preliminary compliance review letters and non-submittal notification letters, followed by coordinating the necessary corrective actions. You'll oversee compliance support and track to other DSW programs, preparing periodic and special reports on section activities. You'll represent Ohio EPA in negotiations, meetings, hearings, and conferences, while also coordinating work plans, commitments, and accomplishments with the U. S. EPA.

Qualifications - 6 yrs. trg. or 6 yrs. exp. in position involving engineering or chemistry, physics, biology &/or comparable science field &/or mathematics &/or history &/or archaeology which included responsibility for developing, coordinating & implementing programs for specific environmental area (e.g., air pollution; water pollution; solid/hazardous waste planning; ecological impact assessment; water quality monitoring & assessment; ground water or laboratory services); AND 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. as lead worker or supervisor or in administrative capacity. Note: Training &/or experience must correspond to environmental area to be assigned. Positions in Environmental Protection Agency's solid waste program, excluding positions in solid waste planning unit, also require valid Ohio certificate of registration as sanitarian or valid Ohio certificate as sanitarian-in-training.
