The Role
BGC is seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to join our team in support of our regional and international water resources projects and services. The successful candidate will collaborate within multi-disciplinary project teams to deliver high-quality technical services to advance our clients unique applied earth science challenges. This role requires demonstrated experience in surface water management with a strong background in water balance modelling, hydraulic structure analysis, and design. You will work closely with other hydrotechnical engineers and geoscientists, help to mentor junior staff, provide technical review, and engage with clients. The ideal candidate will be interested in providing technical leadership and advancing innovative practice while living BGC's values of One Team, Excellence, Curiosity, Common Sense, and Clarity.
Responsibilities
- Act as a technical lead and/or technical reviewer for hydrotechnical modeling, design and construction projects.
- Manage projects, including proposals, budgets, schedules, staffing, and scope.
- Manage multi-disciplined project teams, potentially working in remote and challenging environments.
- Occasional travel to project locations in North and South America and beyond.
- Supervise, train, and mentor junior and intermediate professional staff in the field and office.
- Participate in business development, including identifying new opportunities, promoting BGC's capacity for undertaking innovative and advanced hydrotechnical projects, and proposal writing.
- Engage in research and development to advance innovative practice.
- Help promote BGC vision, values and culture amongst BGC staff.
Required Education, Experience & Competencies
- Professional Engineering License (active license in the USA)
- 10 to 20 years of relevant professional engineering experience. Applicants with fewer or more years of experience than this may also be considered at a seniority level commensurate with their experience.
- Experience working in a consulting environment.
- A fundamental understanding of hydraulics, hydrology, hydrotechnical design, and river engineering, combined with the ability to integrate and work with geotechnical and hydrogeological disciplines, is essential.
- Exceptional communication skills in English, both written and oral, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Position Requirements
Drug & Alcohol Testing
To ensure we meet our client's compliance requirements and our workplace health and safety commitments, BGC has a drug and alcohol policy that applies to this position. The policy states that an employee may be required to take a drug and alcohol test prior to engaging in field work. This testing could be requested within an employee's first week or in the future, as required. It is important to note that some clients also require random drug and alcohol testing, and/or testing in the event of a health and safety accident or incident.
Driver's License
BGC requires that employees have a valid driver's license, and that employees can drive a field pickup truck. Upon hiring, BGC will require a driver's abstract to allow for a safety review of your driving history.

The estimated base salary range for this position is $120,000-$165,000 USD per annum, however base pay will be commensurate with job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. BGC's compensation package also includes a training allowance and a comprehensive medical and dental plan.
