Role Purpose
The intent of this role is to lead and effectively integrate EH&S processes/programs into the overall plant strategy while maintaining compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and corporate safety laws and standards. Provide EHS leadership, expertise, and practical support for Safety Excellence during construction and plant startup through steady state operations - to ensure we have always a rigorous safety program that protects the safety of our employees, contractors, and visitors. This role requires working within a complex manufacturing structure at a plant level and aligning with corporate requirements to ensure safety standards are maintained. It involves influencing sustainable change in cultural and technical aspects of manufacturing at all levels of the organization. Management involves working in a matrix organization structure with plant Safety and Corporate Safety teams driving solutions in cooperation with plant operations, engineering, and technology resources.
Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Work actively with the plant leadership to set a culture of safety awareness and accident prevention by implementing rigorous processes around risk assessment, hierarchy of controls and lead by example.
Review projects, plans, specifications, and purchases to verify environmental issues are addressed proactively. Steady State Plant Operations
Develop and implement comprehensive EHSS policies and programs, facility emergency response plans, integrating process safety management, environmental stewardship, product safety, and occupational safety practices.
Maintain current knowledge of federal and state EH&S regulations impacting air, water, and waste. Oversee all monitoring, reporting and recordkeeping systems required for compliance assurance, and the facility EMS.
Work with internal and external organizations to coordinate industrial hygiene, safety, health and environmental audits of the facility. Conduct self-assessments prior to scheduled audits and take leadership in prioritizing and acting on audit findings and recommendations.
Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities
Required Experiences/Education:
Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health, Environmental Engineering or technical degree in related field
10+ years of experience in an EH&S role
3+ years in an EH&S supervisory role
Required Skills:
Demonstrated leadership skills
Knowledge of OSHA/EPA and other relevant regulations and standards
Knowledge of EH&S regulations
Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
Safety and/or environmental experience in a production facility
Project management experience
Desired Experiences/Education:
Supervisory skills, particularly in coaching technical employees
Six Sigma Greenbelt/DMAIC certification

The range for this position is $130,487.00 - $179,420.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
