Overview The School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, located on the George H. Cook Campus, is one of the largest schools of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. We pursue excellence in research, teaching, and outreach in areas of study that address the biological spectrum from molecules to ecosystems. Our emphasis is on both the fundamental sciences and the social and human dimensions. We offer 21 undergraduate majors, including plant and animal sciences, microbiology, biotechnology, agriculture and food systems, landscape architecture, food and nutritional sciences, ecology and evolution, marine science and oceanography, environmental sciences and meteorology, human ecology, entomology, and environmental economics.
In addition to instruction in the classroom, field, and laboratory, our students have opportunities for experiential learning on and off campus, including a growing emphasis on international experiences through short- and long-term study abroad. Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Sr Program Administrator SPVR (Landscape Architect) for the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences. This position will provide oversight of the Stormwater Management Technical Support Program to develop solutions to water quantity and water quality issues associated with combined sewer overflow (CSO) systems as well as the municipal separate storm sewer systems (MS4). The position will also focus on working with MS4 communities and CSO communities to implement stormwater management practices that will prevent flooding, improve water quality, and help prevent combined sewer overflows.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Works with MS4 communities and CSO communities to implement stormwater management practices that will prevent flooding, improve water quality, and help prevent combined sewer overflows.
- Coordinates activities throughout New Jersey to ensure that project deliverables are produced in a timely fashion and within project budget.
- Uses their technical skills to enhance the programmatic effort of providing solutions to water resources problems at the local, national, and international level.
- Works closely with the Extension Specialist in Water Resources to disseminate information through extension publications.
- Supports the Extension Specialist in Water Resources in seeking and acquiring grant awards to expand the Water Resources Program through new hires and initiatives. |
- Conducts regular meetings with the internal and external project team members and produce progress reports on the activities.
- Expands the landscape architecture abilities of the Rutgers Cooperative Extension (RCE) Water Resources Program and provides oversight to RCE Water Resources Program landscape architects and environmental scientists that are working on various projects across New Jersey.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience - Requires a bachelor's degree in landscape architecture or equivalent and five years of relevant experience.
Certifications/Licenses - Must have a Landscape Architect License in New Jersey.
- Must have a valid New Jersey Driver's License.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Requires a working knowledge in identifying green stormwater infrastructure opportunities, watershed management, best management practice design and implementation, outreach education that includes field research and data analysis.
- Requires experience serving in a leadership role advocating and implementing good water quality/watershed management practices.
- Must have strong writing, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Suite is required.
- Must have strong project management skills to include strong problem-solving skills, a demonstrated ability to work independently, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to engage in self-directed learning to develop new skills to address evolving project activities.
- Ability to work effectively with guidance and instruction but without needing constant direct supervision.
- Attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to customer service are essential qualities.
- Knowledge in design and construction of green stormwater infrastructure practices is required along with knowledge of native plant species, prior knowledge of the New Jersey stormwater management and municipal permitting regulations, and the ability to prepare construction drawings and oversee construction projects.
Preferred Qualifications - Eight to ten years of relevant experience is preferred.
Equipment Utilized - Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Suite, AutoCAD, ArcGIS.
Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentSpecial Conditions - Some evening and weekend work may be required.
