HIRING RANGE: $95,191.20 - $105,768.00/yearJob SummaryProvides landscape architectural planning, design, and construction oversight for the Department of Community Resources, including site development related to capital projects, review of plans and specifications, and making recommendations related to landscape construction.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesIncumbent is accountable for all duties of this job and other projects and responsibilities may be added at the City's discretion. Employees must be able to perform the essential duties of this job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Plans, designs, and oversees new construction and renovation projects for City parks, athletic fields, open space, streetscapes, playgrounds, and other public facilities.
- Provides detailed cost estimates, drawings, and specifications for construction projects.
- Provides site plan and engineering review drawing packages for review and approval by City Planning and Engineering Departments.
- Defines and evaluates the scope of project work and facilitates the planning and design of capital improvement projects.
- Provides technical review of design, construction specifications, and construction documents.
- Develops a thorough knowledge of developed and undeveloped parks/open space land using site surveys, maps, and site visit information.
- Prepares facility designs and master plans based on site information, applicable codes and regulations, City design standards, public input, and staff input.
- Utilizes facility designs and master plans to prepare construction documents that specify materials and methodology to construct site improvements.
- Responsible for all aspects of project bids including developing scope, writing requests for proposals, and evaluating and selecting consultants and contractors.
- Oversees project work in progress to assure compliance with plan specifications, codes, and City regulations.

Reporting Relationships- Supervision Received: Receives general supervision from Land/Design/Facilities Administrator. Receives general guidance from the Lead Design/Facilities Planner.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities- Ability to develop complete sets of construction documents for site and landscape projects.
- Ability to work with diverse groups in the development of design programs.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, other City staff, and other public agencies.
- Ability to meet deadlines on a regular basis.
- Skillful in written and verbal communications.
- Knowledge and skill in graphic communications to enhance the interpretation of site plans and designs.
- Knowledge of ecology, local climate, landscape materials, and park design elements.
- Working knowledge of codes and regulations regarding construction of park facilities.
- Working knowledge of the Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards (UFAS) and ADA accessibility guidelines.
- Knowledge of standard construction methods and means, and some experience in site construction inspections.
Technology Skills- Personal computer
- AutoCAD, MS Word, MS Excel, Blue Beam, and other graphic computer programs.
- Knowledge of ARCmap, Adobe Suite, and Sketch-up.
Education and Experience- Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in landscape architecture, park planning, environmental design, or closely related field.
- Experience: Five or more years' experience in landscape architectural design with design experience in public park planning and design and project management
Certification/Licenses/Specialized Training- Colorado Landscape Architecture license preferred.
- Valid driver's license and good driving record
Working Conditions and Physical RequirementsMust successfully complete and maintain required state or departmental physical standards and certifications.
