Manager EHS (Environmental Health and Safety)SUMMARY OF ROLEThis position will be directly responsible for managing the plant EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) team and for providing leadership, direction in support of the Company's goals, local regulations, and world class practices across the Maxeon Albuquerque, NM site. This position requires thorough technical knowledge and experience of EHS business practices and procedures.
The Manager EHS will work closely with Operations, Manufacturing, and Global EHS to establish requirements and manage expectations of solution(s).
The successful individual will coach and mentor fellow associates to expand their knowledge and skills base of EHS processes and systems.
Key Responsibilities - The role will be as an EHS expert guiding and directing organizational and technical aspects for the site team.
- The Maxeon Albuquerque, NM plant is a Greenfield site: Collaborate with local authorities, Global EHS and planning organizations among many other Maxeon teams to facilitate schedule requirements.
- Responsible for the development, co-ordination, continuous improvement, and management of all EHS programs and processes per Maxeon's standards and guidelines and is responsible to the site to ensure all federal, state, national and local regulatory EHS requirements are met at all times.
- Fostering and instilling a strong EHS culture in which procedural adherence, operational excellence and results orientation are also key foundational aspects.
- Proactively foresee the potential EHS implications or risks of major business decisions or changes and highlight and support the implementation of preventative actions.
- Responsible for resource planning, budgeting, establishment of and maintaining effective organizational EHS, management and relevant structures to drive and execute incident and injury prevention and compliance programs at the site.
- Partner with customers and stakeholders in providing clear expectations to Site Management and in providing strategic EHS planning and directions to the Site in support of incident and injury prevention, program conformance and regulatory compliance.
- People management responsibilities will include all aspects of team, including staffing, technical coaching, skills development, training and proficiency, and performance management for the team.
- Successfully interface with partner organizations and maintain effective communications.
- Develops criteria and performance specifications required to meet unique operating requirements and building and safety codes.
- Manage submittal of all permit and regulatory required agency reports.
- Contribute to the site's Process Safety Management (PSM) system and help define requirements for engineers and other impacted staff.
Required Qualifications - A minimum of a Bachelors degree in a core EHS or science related discipline with 7 years of direct work experience in an industrial EHS role or a completed a Masters degree in either an Env, Safety, IH discipline or science related field with 4 years of direct work experience in an industrial EHS or related role.
- Demonstrate a high level of technical and scientific competence in the application of the EHS fundamentals e.g., recognition, evaluation, control, and prevention of occupational safety, health, and environmental hazards.
- Experience in a role that required ambiguity and change due to the dynamic nature of the business.
- Willing to influence senior management decisions and program implementations
- Knowledge of Management Systems such as, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001 and their practical application to industry.
- Focus on attention to detail.
- Willingness to handle confidential information.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and be flexible.
- Proficient to Microsoft office software include Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
- Basic understanding of problem-solving tools (FMEA, 5 whys, 8D & etc.), systematic approach with a quality mindset.
- Ability to think out of the box, perform risk analysis and mitigation and manage changes.
- Good team player with good communication and negotiation skills
