Position SummaryUnder general supervision, this position performs a variety of fish, wildlife, vegetation management, and water quality field work for the Utility. Serves as a support role for the implementation, monitoring and reporting of fisheries, wildlife programs, and water quality programs.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Serve in a support role and/or provide leadership for field work associated with collection of required biological and water quality data; assist in the design and implementation of studies to ensure that meaningful information is collected; perform routine data collection and monitoring activities on a variety of fisheries, wildlife, and water quality programs.
- General experience and knowledge in discipline in relation to scientific research methodology, and Columbia River fish, wildlife, and water quality issues; working knowledge of fish culture, wildlife, botanical, water quality, biometrics, and sampling techniques.
- Assist in the implementation of fish, wildlife and water quality evaluations required in the FERC License Order, 401 Certification, NOAA Fisheries Biological Opinion, USFWS Biological Opinion, Priest Rapids Salmon and Settlement Agreement Hanford Reach Agreement, and other programs/settlements. Develop reports,
study plans, and basic compliance filings. - Assist in the direction of various staff and contractors; provide recommendations and leadership regarding a project's impact on the local wildlife, vegetation, and fisheries; perform job hazard assessments, conduct job brief meetings, and participate in weekly coordination meetings; identify potential hazards, and assist in helping provide solutions when unforeseen hazards arise.
- Participate in research, planning, scoping, and budgeting for current and future impacting fish, wildlife, and water quality; assist in data entry; review, analysis, and report activities and successes of the department's work; coordinate and participate in trainings and meetings taking advantage of all educational opportunities for professional development.

- Understand and adhere to compliance requirements for this position that may include laws, regulations, security guidelines, Grant PUD policies & procedures.

Education and ExperienceRequired- Minimum of 2 years' experience in fish, wildlife, and water quality
Preferred- Bachelor's Degree in Fisheries, Wildlife, or related Environmental Science.
Licenses and CertificationsRequired- A valid State driver's license.
- A Washington State Boaters Certification
- Experience with boats, trucks, trailers, and fish, wildlife, and water quality sampling equipment.
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Basic knowledge of statistics, water hydraulics, fish passage, fish protection facilities at dams, terrestrial (wildlife and botanical) population trends.
- Basic knowledge of the chemical, physical, and biological properties of the aquatic environment.
- Skills in computers; working in a team environment and being able to communicate effectively and efficiently with internal and external stakeholders.

- The biologist will be required to perform work of a mixed nature (office and field) that varies by season.
- Field activities may require long hours and nighttime work.
