Under general supervision conducts field inspection and public outreach activities related to the City's curbside recycling program.
*This position performs duties deemed to be "safety sensitive" and is therefore subjected to random drug testing under the City's policies*
Essential Job Functions - Performs inspection of residential SW&R customers' recycling carts and other waste set-outs to ensure compliance with program guidelines.
- Investigates acceptable and unacceptable solid waste containers.
- Provides written notice to customers of contaminated or otherwise unacceptable recycling and trash set-outs.
- Explains solid waste service options, schedules, and rates to requesting customers.
- Verifies assigned cart serial numbers.
- Updates the route system with current customers and customer service information.
- Performs route audits of residential set outs to collect participation data.
- Maintains complete records of each assigned activity and prepares reports of daily inspections.
- Operates the route navigation software system used in establishing refuse routes.
- Advises supervisors of potential delivery and pick-up challenges before they results in services issues.
- Categorizes and maintains manual and computerized filing systems; enters data.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requires a High School Diploma or GED equivalent, supplemented by one to three years of similar experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Possession or the ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Oklahoma for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Physical Requirements Tasks involve the ability to exert moderate physical effort in medium work, typically involving some combination of hearing, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, talking, visual acuity, walking, and which involves some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 50 pounds). Tasks may involve extended period of time at a keyboard or workstation.

Monthly Rates:Retirement - The City offers a 401(a) defined contribution retirement plan through the Oklahoma Municipal Retirement Fund (OMRF). The City contributes 10% of the employees' earnings into the plan. Employees become 20% vested after three years and vesting increases 20% for each additional year of service until 100% vesting is achieved at seven years. Employees may elect to contribute an additional amount.

Paid Leave - Vacation: One week of vacation is available after six months of employment. Thereafter, vacation is accrued monthly according to year of service.
- Year 1 - 4: 10 days per year
- Year 5 - 9: 15 days per year
- Year 10 - 14: 20 days per year
- Year 15 - 19: 22 days per year
- 20 years +: 25 days per year
Holidays: Twelve paid holidays, plus one floating holiday each year.
Sick: Eight hours per month up to maximum of 1,040 hours (130 working days).
