The U.S. Regional Environmental Manager position will have responsibility for providing technical support and leadership to WF's operations in the areas of environmental regulatory compliance and sustainability. This role will be supporting approximately 13 lumber and wood panel manufacturing operations across the US south the successful candidate will work closely with the corporate environment and sustainability team and manufacturing operations to steward the development, implementation, and continual improvement of environmental compliance and sustainability programs and practices.
Area of responsibility:- Provide technical support for environmental regulatory compliance in critical areas such as air emission permitting and reporting, stormwater, industrial effluent, drinking water, SPCC, and waste management.
- Ensure timely and accurate regulatory and internal environmental performance reporting.
- Provide training, coaching, and leadership in the development of site environmental leadership and environmental staff.
- Assist operations with the development of action plans in response to internal audits and organizational sustainability objectives.
- Lead the development of site environmental improvement initiatives.
- Participate in intracompany environmental audits.
Qualifications- Broad experience with applicable environmental legislation, regulatory consultation, and stakeholder engagement in a manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or similar acumen.
- Ten or more years managing environmental program agenda in the industrial sector.
- A Master's Degree is preferred.
- Familiarity with leading Environmental Management systems and audit frameworks.
- Prior knowledge of either lumber or wood panel or similar heavy manufacturing operations
- Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships within operational teams.
- Demonstrated planning, organizing, and creative problem-solving ability.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.
