To learn more about The City of Fort Collins and Our Community, please read Our Community and Our Organization BrochureJob SummaryIn support of Our Climate Future, the Senior Specialist for Environmental Sustainability supports crucial community-facing functions of the Healthy Homes program, an environmental justice program rooted in the vision that all Fort Collins community members have a healthy, energy efficient, and resilient home environment. This position plans and implements equitable community engagement for the program, which includes assistance with navigating City and community resources. The Senior Specialist also coordinates the Healthy Homes Educator volunteer program, executing engagement strategies that result in high volunteer satisfaction and retention. Administrative functions of this role include scheduling Healthy Homes assessments, maintaining accurate program files, and contributing to program evaluation.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive.
- Maintains existing and builds new relationships with community members, including historically underrepresented community members, as well as with local and regional businesses, stakeholders, and industry professionals.
- Supports the development of policies and plans.
- Coordinates campaigns collaboratively with Communications and Public Involvement Office and individual program managers.
- Manages and supports design and coordination of communications materials, such as City websites, e-newsletters, social media, etc.
- Plans and conducts equitable public outreach and involvement processes and events to engage community members, businesses and key stakeholders.
- Responds to community, employee, and City Council inquiries, complaints and service requests
- May collaborate with other City departments and/or external stakeholders on community engagement, outreach, or communications efforts.
- May provide support and advice to other City departments on planning, engagement, and other techniques that support the successful implementation of processes, projects, or programs.
- May research and track national, state and local trends and statistics related to planning, policy, and community engagement strategies.
- May conduct long-range planning together with Sustainability Services and Our Climate Future partners (internal and external) to promote regenerative, restorative and sustainable development principles.
- May serve on task forces on interdepartmental and interagency teams related to environmental sustainability, engagement, and equity.

Required QualificationsMinimumPreferredCollege degree or equivalent work experience. Some positions may require functionally related certification or advanced degrees
Bachelor's degree in sustainability, natural resource management, public relations, planning, or related field from an accredited college or university
Experience Requirements- Three years related experience.
