The Assistant Environmental Health and Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring the maximum safety performance and awareness of everyone associated with the company through the development, implementation, and administration of the corporate safety, health and environmental program. Works closely with all levels of management to analyze safety trends and will be the lead on consistently facilitating ways to improve safety across the company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Leads a team of Environmental Health & Safety Specialists/Technicians working on various sites.
- Analyzes companywide safety trends and works with all levels of management to drive improvement in safety performance.
- Oversees compliance with federal, state and local safety, health and environmental laws and regulations, including all aspects of the Corporate Safety, Health and Environmental Program and Site Health and Safety Plans (HASP).
- Ensures all environmental, health, and safety operations and policies comply with government, program, contract, and task order requirements.
- Collaborates with the project teams to administer the safety procedures and policies and address compliance among all employees, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Conducts frequent site visits and attends various planning meetings.
- Responsible for leading the CS Energy monthly safety committee meeting.
- Ensures Environmental Health and Safety Specialists/Technicians are effectively coaching the project team regarding proper safety behaviors.
- Ensures Environmental Health and Safety Specialists/Technicians are effectively providing technical support to the project teams during the planning and implementation of activities so that all operations will be executed safely.
- Ensures the project training and medical surveillance programs are implemented as required.
- Ensures employees are generating and maintaining all project documentation (i.e., Daily Reports/Field Notes, Safety Audits, AHA, Take 5, Accident Investigation, Weekly Safety Meeting, SDS) onsite.
- Interfaces with the company's insurance provider, OSHA, and the client on all job inspections and safety- and health-related issues.
- Coordinates with the occupational physicians regarding employee injuries, work status, and employee appointments. Documents the case in detail until the employee is fully released.
- Work with EHS Manager to gain understanding of company Key Performance Indicator (KPI) metrics reporting and collect data as assigned.
- Performs accident/injury investigations and recommends corrective actions.
- Ensure sites are adhering to environmental regulations such as SWPPP and SPCC, as required.
- Delivers OSHA, DOT, and EPA required training as needed.
Requirements - Five or more years of relevant Safety and Health experience in the industrial, construction, or environmental fields with progressively greater responsibility.
- Excellent leadership skills; proven track record of successfully managing others.
- Certified or pursuing certification as a Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) or Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST). Has developed and delivered OSHA, DOT, and EPA Required Training.
- Have completed the OSHA 500/502 course for Construction Outreach Trainer.
- Working knowledge of Air Monitoring/Sampling
- Working knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety Standards and regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT) and how to apply them to specific task/ activities.
- Trained in Accident Investigation, HAZWOPER Operations, Excavation/Trenching, Fall Protection, Hazard Communication, Scaffold Safety, Fire Protection, Electrical Safety, and substation safety.
- Excellent teamwork, communication and people skills a must.
- Strong analytical and interpersonal capabilities.
- Outstanding organizational skills and very strong attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced challenging environment with a solid time management system.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, etc.) with strong verbal and written skills.

A reasonable estimate of the range for this role is $85,000 - $97,000 Starting rate of pay may vary based on various factors, including, but not limited to an individual's experience and expertise. Certain roles are also eligible for bonuses, subject to CS Energy's discretion and based on factors such as individual and/or organizational performance.
