DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY:The Energy Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of renewable energy projects for the benefit of the Bay Mills Indian Community. This role involves managing all aspects of the project lifecycle, from conceptual design and financial planning to construction and final commissioning. The Energy Facilities Manager will ensure projects meet deadlines, stay within budget, comply with environmental regulations, and align with organizational sustainability goals. They coordinate cross-functional teams, liaise with stakeholders, and mitigate risks to ensure successful project delivery.?
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:- Provide technical expertise in the construction, operation, and maintenance of renewable energy systems.
- Provide daily oversight of energy efficiency and renewable energy projects including operation and maintenance of solar installations and battery energy storage systems.
- Manage bidding process including preparation of bid packages, evaluation of proposals, contract negotiations, and recommendations to leadership.
- Ensure contract compliance, monitor project development and construction status, and reporting on financial and operational performance for operating renewable projects.
- Work with a contractor to develop and implement an EPA approved Quality Assurance Project Plan.
- Monitor project implementation by reviewing progress reports, making site visits to confirm progress, record keeping and compliance with federal assurances, and review the final report and deliverables.
- Develop technical materials for facility managers and operators, make presentations on technical topics; maintain contacts with engineering associations, utilities, vendors and manufacturers of energy waste reduction products and services, and public agencies to solicit input on technical issues and program strategies.
- Work with partners to design and implement a Workforce Development Program,
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, including delays, budget overruns, environmental impact, and safety hazards.
- Develop and implement strategies for end-of-life recycling and disposal of renewable energy systems when they reach the end of their lifespan.
- Review program proposals, calculate potential energy and economic benefits, assist with quantifying outcomes, and consult on energy savings measurement and verification.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit with occasional standing and walking. Occasionally the employee must bend, balance, squat, kneel, push/pull, and crouch. The employee must be able to lift, move, and/or carry up to 25 pounds. This position may require working during adverse weather conditions. Rarely, fieldwork and/or office duties may require the employee to begin early in the morning, work late into the evenings, and travel long distances.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Environmental Science, Energy Technologies, Sustainable Business Management, Environmental Sustainability, Environmental Resource Management, or other related fields.
- Experience with energy technologies, grant management, reporting, and energy program development;
- Experience in data management, reporting, or analytics, preferably in the energy sector.
- Advanced proficiency in data manipulation and analysis, including familiarity and experience with data analysis and management tools.
- Understanding of sustainability and climate science principles
- Ability to work with partners and other agencies
- Strong organization skills and ability to manage a diverse array of responsibilities/ activities
- Knowledge and experience in budget management and development
- Working knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher), energy technology software.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Good technical writing, oral communication and presentation skills
- Demonstrates excellence in problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Must have an excellent past work record as demonstrated from reports from past employment references
- Must have demonstrated ability to communicate with all departmental employees, and guests or clients of the organization by phone, in person, or through correspondence.
- To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each function listed under the essential functions and physical demands categories of this position description.
- Must be able to travel when required.
