Description
GeoEngineers, Inc. is seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer/Geologist for our Puget Sound area (Seattle, Redmond or Tacoma) office, based on candidate preference. Responsibilities of this position include providing technical leadership on environmental investigation and remediation projects, planning and managing environmental data (soil, sediment, groundwater and vapor) collection efforts, managing cleanup construction oversight, evaluating and interpreting environmental data, performing engineering and scientific analysis and evaluation, preparing cleanup documents including work plans, reports and design (design drawings, specifications and engineers estimate), managing projects, developing and supporting client relationships, business development and mentoring junior staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Play a key role working closely with Principals/Associates in developing and supporting client relationships, business development activities, preparing Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) and competing for new project opportunities.
- Serve as a technical leader for clients and project staff, providing guidance on all phases of remediation projects including planning, permitting, investigation, design, cleanup construction, closeout and long-term monitoring.
- Plan and manage field explorations and environmental data (soil, sediment, groundwater and vapor) collection efforts. Field explorations may include drilling and test pitting to collect soil samples, sediment grab sampling and coring, and monitoring well installation and collection of groundwater samples.
- Evaluate and interpret field and laboratory environmental data, perform engineering/scientific analysis and evaluation, and develop solutions to complex problems.
- Evaluate the fate and transport of environmental contaminants in various media including soil, sediment, groundwater, and vapor, and develop conceptual site models to evaluate contaminant exposure pathways to receptors.
- Develop solutions to environmental problems by evaluating different and applicable remedial technologies and performing disproportionate cost analysis (DCA) to meet the requirements of the State's Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA) Cleanup Regulations and/or Sediment Management Standards (SMS).
- Prepare remedial investigation work plans, sampling and analysis plans, data reports, remedial investigation/feasibility study (RI/FS) reports, cleanup action plans, and remedial action completion reports.
- Prepare design documents, engineering calculations, and permit applications.
- Perform management and oversight of cleanup construction involving remedial excavation, dredging of contaminated sediment and wood debris, installation of sediment caps, installation, operations, and maintenance of in-situ remediation systems and site restoration activities.
- Perform project and task management duties, such as developing scopes of work and budgets, coordination with clients, subcontractor solicitation, invoicing, cost control, and contract reviews.
- Mentor and train junior staff.
- Essential duties and responsibilities may vary based on projects.
Qualifications- Bachelor's or master's degree in civil/environmental engineering or geology. Master's degree preferred.
- 10+ years of environmental consulting or related professional experience.
- Licensed engineer/geologist. Washington PE (Professional Engineer) for engineers and Washington LG (Licensed Geologist) or LHG (Licensed Hydrogeologist) for geologists.
- Working knowledge of environmental regulations, including Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA) Cleanup Regulations and Sediment Management Standards (SMS) and how to apply them.
- Skilled in managing environmental field investigation (soil, sediment, groundwater and vapor) and cleanup construction projects.
- Ability to independently prepare and lead proposals, work plans, data reports, remedial investigation/feasibility study (RI/FS) reports and design (design drawings, specifications, and engineers estimate).
- Working knowledge of Local, State, and Federal permitting process applicable to environmental cleanup projects.
- Valid driver's license.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment- All candidates are subject to completing a background check, and reference check.
- Ability to perform physical duties, including use of personal protective and respiratory equipment and occasional lifting.
- Able to perform consistent work on a PC.
- Ability to travel for short-term and long-term assignments as needed. Travel will typically not exceed 10%.

This includes identifying potential safety hazards and reporting them in a timely manner and participating in project safety briefings. This also includes wearing appropriate safety equipment when working in the field and completing all required health & safety training prior to beginning field work.
Our best estimate of the salary range for the Senior Environmental Engineer, located in Seattle WA, or Redmond WA is $107,800 - $152,000 annually. Our best estimate of the salary range for the Senior Environmental Engineer, located in Tacoma WA is $102,400 - $144,400 annually. Our best estimate of the salary range for the Senior Environmental Geologist, located in Seattle WA, or Redmond WA is $99,600 - $140,400 annually. Our best estimate of the salary range for the Senior Environmental Geologist, located in Tacoma WA is $94,600 - $133,400 annually. Compensation offered will be based on a variety of individual factors, including education and experience, as well as internal equity. GeoEngineers' salary ranges are reviewed and updated each year and employees are eligible for pay increases based on individual performance. As part of our competitive total rewards package, employees in this role may also be eligible for our annual year-end bonus offering, subject to program eligibility requirements.
