This role manages natural gas procurement, scheduling, and balancing for 30+ North American manufacturing sites, overseeing millions in annual energy spending. As part of a four-person team, it ensures reliable supply while supporting electricity, steam procurement, and sustainability initiatives to enhance profitability and environmental commitments. Engages with sites, utilities, suppliers, and consultants.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Forecast natural gas use, manage nominations, balancing, and reporting; develop cost-effective buying strategies.
- Evaluate and approve energy invoices (up to $3M each) for accuracy.
- Collaborate with internal departments, overseas teams, manufacturing sites, utilities, and suppliers to build strong relationships.
- Manage energy data, systems, and vendor relationships.
- Analyze utility tariffs, supplier offers, and contracts.
- Support RFP process for energy and sustainability needs, evaluating risks and recommending the best offers.
- Travel to sites, manage vendor relationships, and attend industry events across the U.S.
REQUIREMENTS- Bachelor's degree (required)
- 5+ years of experience in natural gas utility or retail gas supply, preferably in industrial markets
- 5+ years of experience in retail energy transactions & contracting
- Experience with utility or gas pipeline scheduling (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of energy industry trends, key price points, and trade publications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office & ability to learn new data systems
- Detail-oriented, with strong accuracy, multitasking, & deadline management skills
- Effective communicator-able to convey complex information to senior management & diverse audiences
- Team player with strong analytical, time management, & problem-solving skills
- Willingness to travel domestically & internationally as needed
