As a Recycling Attendant, you will monitor our compost and recycling programs to ensure is a leader in sustainability and that the property is presented to the highest standards.

Unit DescriptionShenandoah National Park offers over 200,000 acres of protected lands with lots to explore including cascading waterfalls, spectacular vistas, and quiet wooded hollows. It's a great place to hike, camp, bike, fish, take photographs or go canoeing. We offer on-site housing and a free meal during every shift.
Responsibilities- Look after the composting program at the property, and deposit waste onto the site
- Operate the mobile propane bottle recycling equipment
- Manage the recycling center waste, including electronic waste, universal waste, and scrap metal
- Monitor and record the waste entering the recycling center site
- This position requires driving a company vehicle on a daily basis.
- Mow lawn using hand, power, or riding mower
- Deliver firewood to guest rooms
- Empty trash bins
Qualifications- Must be at least 18 years old
- No experience or diploma required
- Must possess a valid state driver's license with the ability to operate a vehicle with a towing trailer
- Basic computer skills required, including Word and Excel
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Previous experience in the Environmental Sciences field preferred
Physical Requirements- Ability to consistently lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Constant standing, lifting, bending, and repetitive motions for extended periods of time
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
