The Solar Estimator - Mechanical and Electrical is responsible for estimating EPC solar projects with expertise in mechanical and/or electrical procurement and installation. This role demands meticulous attention to detail and expertise in estimating solar projects within these contexts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Project Assessment:
• Review project specs and drawings to grasp solar design and installation requirements.
2. Design Review:
• Review and evaluate owner specifications and design requirements to provide accurate guidance to and ensure compliance of subcontract engineering partners.
3. Cost Estimation:
• Use advanced estimating techniques to accurately assess project costs, including materials, labor, and equipment.
4. Risk Analysis:
• Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
5. Bid Preparation:
• Create comprehensive bid proposals aligning with client needs and company objectives.
6. Collaboration:
• Work with cross-functional teams to optimize project outcomes.
7. Vendor Management:
• Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
8. Value Engineering:
• Explore cost optimization opportunities without compromising quality.
9. Documentation:
• Maintain accurate project records in accordance with company policies.
10. Continuous Improvement:
• Stay updated on industry trends and incorporate new knowledge into job performance.
Education
• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
Experience
• 3-5 years in estimating or preconstruction for EPC solar projects with a focus on mechanical and/or electrical scopes.
Technical Skills
• Proficiency in mechanical and/or electrical design review, construction estimating software, advanced Excel, and CAD software.
Certifications
• Professional certifications such as CPE or PMP are a plus.
