Senior Environmental Engineer to join our Safety, Health and Environmental team in
Richmond, VA. This is a
hybrid role that will require you to be located in Central Virginia to provide environmental support for Richmond Metro locations.
What you'll be doing: - Strategically enhance our Environmental Management System to support the company's purpose, vision and culture while reducing environmental impacts. Streamline protocols, plans, procedures, monitoring, and record keeping processes to improve effectiveness and harmonize their application throughout the business.
- Lead the enterprise-wide Environmental Assessment Program for all media (air, EPCRA, oil, water, waste, and hazardous materials transportation). Develop and implement muti-year assessment plans and manage external assessment contractor.
- Lead the enterprise-wide waste management program including waste vendor evaluations, material characterization, hazardous waste management, and serving as a subject management expert.
- Lead the enterprise-wide water management program including wastewater, stormwater, and drinking water. Review applicable plant, process and equipment changes and implement plans to generate and submit permit applications to local, state and federal agencies. Coordinate permit-required testing, communicate with agency staff, and complete and submit associated reports.
- Serve as the facility environmental engineer for Richmond area locations. Manage the location's environmental programs in conjunction with location management. Requires periodic site visits.
- Keep abreast of environmental regulatory changes and applicability determinations. Interpret and communicate their impact on facility operations and Altria Initiatives.
- Lead cross-functional projects and studies. Prepare business justifications, project scopes and budgets. Identify qualified vendors and consultants and direct their activities.
What your experience looks like: - Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or closely related field
- 5+ years of environmental management and compliance experience in manufacturing or consulting industry. An advanced degree or Professional Engineer's license is preferred.
- Strong background in waste management (specifically hazardous waste).
- Experience working in interdisciplinary teams and collaborating effectively with colleagues from diverse technical backgrounds and across organizational and functional boundaries.
- Critical thinking, decision-making, and project management skills.
- Using data analytics and visualization platforms such as Power BI for environmental performance metrics and reporting.
- Proven ability establishing positive relationships with environmental agency staff and networking with stakeholders.
- Willing to travel 10%.
- Capable of wearing personal protective equipment as needed.
The starting salary is based on but not limited to experience, knowledge, and qualifications in determining compensation decisions. The Salary Range for this position is: $88,800.00 - $128,850.00.
