Job Summary:In this role, you will lead a high-performance team to develop and manage complex Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H) project programs. You will assist functional leads to ensure requirements are properly integrated and be responsible for overall project ES&H execution. Your leadership will help achieve ES&H performance expectations, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Major Responsibilities: - Supervises an Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) program on a project inclusive of technical and administrative aspects; compliance activities; and processes and plans associated with all three ESH disciplines (including medical).
- Applies Bechtel's ESH Management System and standards to achieve, maintain, and continually improve EHS program execution.
- Assures support within ESH teams and to Engineering, Construction, Commissioning, Operations, Legal, Contracts, Procurement, Management, and other functions regarding ESH requirements.
- Manages budgets, schedules, and resources for interpreting and implementing ESH requirements, evaluating risks, and developing suitable plans and methods for a robust ESH program.
- Helps write and oversees implementation of Environmental Management Plans, Safety and Health Management Plans, and other ESH plans in compliance with Bechtel's ESH Management System, standards, and contract and regulatory requirements.
- Provides support and takes direction from the Global Business Unit (GBU) Manager of ES&H. Establishes a leadership position in the areas of ES&H across the business lines.
- Provides implementation of strategic directions provided by the Manager of ES&H, as well as global business unit level goals and objectives for ES&H.
- Integrates all aspects of Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H) (including medical and industrial hygiene), processes, procedures, systems, methods and policies critical to the success of ES&H on multiple projects and/or in a global business unit.
- Ensures interpretation of complex requirements, evaluating and applying appropriate ES&H principles, and formulating scopes of work, plans, and methodologies suitable for achieving and maintaining compliance with global ES&H requirements.
- Provides leadership for the development and maintenance of high-performance ES&H project teams on multiple projects.
- Has responsibility to ensure the projects, business line or function adheres to contract requirements, standards of quality, and to customer and Bechtel ES&H performance expectations.
- Develops and applies an ES&H management system across all projects and/or activities within the GBU.
- Provides project set up assistance and may be deployed operationally to Manage the Bechtel ES&H program at an assigned project upon need.
Education and Experience Requirements: - Requires a Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) related to environmental, safety, health or science-related discipline and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
- In-depth knowledge of ES&H Processes, industry standards for safety/health performance, and best management practices for minimizing potential safety/health hazards during project execution.
- Proficiency in managing safety/health organizations/programs and supervising technical staff.
- Advanced understanding of construction planning and execution.
- Experience in managing and/or providing technical oversight of safety/health subcontractors or consultants.
Required Knowledge and Skills: - Demonstrated prior experience working on large scale construction projects in a Senior ESH Manager capacity
- In-depth knowledge of ES&H Processes, industry standards for safety/health performance, and best management practices for minimizing potential safety/health hazards during project execution.
- The ability to participate in safety personnel recruitment, training, and development. Conduct performance evaluations of Bechtel safety personnel in coordination with the Energy GBU ES&H Manager and reviews performance evaluations.
- Ability to quickly obtain the knowledge necessary to conduct safety and health assessments/reviews of GBU projects to monitor compliance with safety and health requirements including contractual commitments, permits, and internal Bechtel core processes and procedures
