Job ResponsibilitiesYork Technical College, a member of the South Carolina Technical and Comprehensive Education System, is a public, two-year institution of higher education that offers a variety of associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. Through maximizing student success, the College seeks to contribute to the economic growth and development of York, Lancaster, and Chester counties and of the State.
The journey-level HVAC technician performs the following functions:
- Evaluate, repair, and maintain a variety of HVACR equipment including chillers, boilers, associated pumping systems, commercial heat pumps and gas packs, pneumatic HVAC controls, cooling towers, fan coil units, VAV units, and air handling equipment. Maintains records, prepares reports, and orders supplies or equipment.
- Develops a preventative maintenance schedule for HVACR equipment. Performs routine maintenance, cleans, and services HVAC systems. Inspects HVAC systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure proper operation.
- Performs and assists with general facility maintenance in areas such as carpentry, door hardware, electrical, and plumbing repairs.
- Performs wall construction and repairs. Installs and repairs wall coverings. Provides commercial grade painting for maintenance, repairs, and small projects.
- Support faculty in the organization, set up, and delivery of instructional equipment, supplies, surplus, and furniture. Assist with event set up and break downs. Install wall hangings and perform minor repairs to furniture. Provides on-call duties for college emergencies after normal business hours and weekends on a rotational schedule.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum and Additional Requirements - High school diploma and experience in the installation and maintenance of HVAC systems or in the operation and maintenance of HVAC mechanical and building control systems or equivalent education and experience.
- Current, valid Drivers' license
- EPA 608 Universal license
Preferred Qualifications Four or more years of relevant experience in HVAC systems is preferred.
