Corteva Agriscience is seeking a talented and enthusiastic
Structural Biologist to join the Mode of Action & Bioanalytical Center of Expertise located in Indianapolis, IN. The individual will contribute to our goal of developing sustainable Crop Health solutions by conducting research studies to support the development of novel small molecules for Crop Protection in the R&D pipeline. This role involves generating and interpreting structural data and providing insights for small molecule discovery and development. The candidate must work well in a team, network across disciplines, and communicate effectively with stakeholders. Expertise in cryo-electron microscopy and electron diffraction is required, along with skills in protein biochemistry.
What You'll Do:- Develop and implement Cryo-EM and microED workflows.
- Prepare, collect, and analyze Cryo-EM and microED samples.
- Drive structure-based drug design efforts by providing high-resolution structural data and insights.
- Utilize Cryo-EM data to identify and dock small molecule binding sites on target proteins.
- Prioritize protein targets based on feasibility and impact, aligning with organizational goals.
- Express, purify, and characterize proteins.
- Analyze structural information to impact computational and medicinal chemistry efforts.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on pipeline projects.
- Clearly communicate structural data, interpretation, and insights to project teams, department colleagues, and leadership.
What Skills You Need:- Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Structural Biology, Biology, or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience, or MS with 10 years of experience.
- Demonstrated track record of independent structure determination using Cryo-EM data.
- Experience utilizing Cryo-EM and modeling software packages including but not limited to CryoSparc, Relion, CCP-EM, Coot, PHENIX etc.
- Proficient in cryogenic sample preparation, image acquisition, and analysis techniques relevant to single particle analysis and electron diffraction.
- Proven experience supporting small molecule (drug) discovery and development.
- Extensive knowledge of and experience in protein production, including construct design, protein expression systems, protein purification techniques, and protein characterization methods.
Additional Qualifications: - Hands-on experience engineering protein constructs and optimizing the production of protein targets for structural and functional studies.
- Expertise in X-ray crystallography is highly advantageous.
- Experience solving small molecule structures using microED.
- Familiarity with Linux environment and web interfaces is preferred.
