Job PurposeTo support plant environmental operations and personnel ensuring compliance with legal requirements and conformance with internal policies for the Siding Division. Clear, accurate, and timely communications to Business Leaders and external stakeholders. Provide input in the design, development and implementation of strategic programs and initiatives on a business-wide basis. Represent LP in interests to all stakeholders concerning regulatory compliance and emerging issue policy. Ensuring timely permitting for on-time, on schedule project, plant operations.

In this position you will have the opportunity to:Support Plant Environmental Staff with the following items: - Ensuring Aspects of Plant Location/Equipment/Processes/etc. are fully realized and documented
- Full compliance review and legal requirements are identified and documented
- Assist Plant Location w implementing process/procedures/inspections/etc. in order to meet legal and corporate requirements
- Ensure location compliance calendar is up to date with all compliance and conformance requirements and is being fully utilized
- Assist Plant locations w non-compliance/non-conformance issues including - Root Cause Analysis, Corrective Action Development, Clear Accurate Timely communications to stakeholders (internal and external)
- Provide technical assistance where needed to ensure compliance with legal requirements and conformance with internal requirements
- Assist Plant Locations w new projects: Equipment modifications, Expansions, Green Fields Projects, Equipment or Plant Decommissioning, through review and approval of capital project planning documents
- Provide clear communication w Federal, State, Local agencies as required for project work.
- Review permit applications and technical submittals
- Lead/provide guidance to external consultants as they assist w new project permitting items
- Perform audits at assigned or other facilities to identify weak areas in compliance/conformance and assist in closing gaps
- Train, mentor, guide Plant Environmental Managers in all aspects of their role as environmental professionals. Participate, along w Plant Manager, in the hiring process for new Environmental Managers and assist Plant Manager in ongoing/annual evaluation process
Support Business Level groups with the following items: - Clear, Accurate, and Timely communications on potential at risk items, non-compliance, non-conformance, NOVs, Fines, Media Attention, etc. to Business EHS and Operations Leaders
- Working w Engineering to understand near, mid, long term projects at assigned facilities in order to ensure on time on schedule approved permit delivery w no delays in construction/start up
- Maintain environmental processes/procedures alignment w other Business Unit Locations and other Business Unit types where possible to ensure consistency across company
- Participate in Business Level Operations recurring calls to stay up to date on upcoming impactful items
- Stay up to date on key strategic environmental issues, emerging or revised federal, state, and local laws, and general concerns affecting assigned plants.
What do I need to be successful?Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - In-depth knowledge of all applicable environmental regulations.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of plant operations and compliance issues.
- Deep understanding of the function and operation of environmental control equipment (Regenerative Thermal Oxidizers - RTO, Regenerative Catalytic Oxidizers - RCO, Wet Electrostatic Precipitator - WESP, etc.)
- Thorough knowledge of environmental reporting- AEI, Tier II, TRI, GHG.
- Thorough knowledge of current management and supervisory techniques.
- Knowledge of wastewater treatment, process, permits, etc.
- Thorough knowledge of effective project management methods.
- Effective project management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively manage a large group of employees.
- Ability to lead individuals and teams to achieve goals and objectives.
Experience: - 7 or more years environmental science experience
- 5 years demonstrated management and/or supervisory experience.
- 5 or more years of manufacturing experience
Or any combination of experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
Education- Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Science, Engineering, or related field
Work Environment - Ability to efficiently and effectively work, communicate, on a laptop from any location.
- Ability to work for short periods in physically stressful situations required.
- Moderate travel required (~50%).
- Ability to wear various personal protective equipment including: Steel Toe Boots, Hard Hat, Eye protection, Ear protection, High Visibility clothing
