DWR SRO is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Engineer - Water Resources, with strong interpersonal communication and technical skills to lead the Hydrogeological Data Section in a challenging and rewarding team-oriented work environment.
Under general supervision of the SRO Resources Assessment Branch Manager, the Senior Engineer will perform a wide variety of water resources engineering services, including leading a team to provide assistance to the Department, Region, other agencies, and the public by measuring streamflow and groundwater levels from SRO's network of monitoring stations and providing that data to the public; assessing technical documents and conducting technical studies; responding to public, private, and legal requests for information, mostly related to Well Completion Reports; reviewing and providing well completion reports to the public; and overseeing well-meter testing.
Specific duties include planning and investigation of potential stream gage sites; construction of stream gaging stations and their subsequent operation, maintenance, and repair; measuring stream-stage data using dataloggers and using acoustic flow instruments to measure stream-channel characteristics; assisting with data processing and developing stream-rating curves. The incumbent will also oversee and coordinate with Monitoring Entities to update their groundwater monitoring plans to ensure compliance with the CA Statewide Groundwater Elevation Monitoring program. Other duties include scheduling staff to perform groundwater level measurements in SRO's monitoring network and to review the data for completeness and accuracy.
Detailed data management, analysis, and reporting using software and Internet-based application tools are an important part of this position.

Special Requirements The incumbent must possess valid registration as a Professional Engineer issued by CA BPELSG and a valid California Driver License. This position requires occasional fieldwork. Travel is required and infrequent overnight lodging may be required to attend meetings and trainings or to visit field-sites.
