Summary:The Environmental Engineer supports Operations Environmental Compliance, Engineering, Regulatory, and Construction personnel to ensure compliance with all environmental requirements and programs. Additionally, the Environmental Engineer is responsible for calculating and reporting greenhouse gas emissions, ensuring compliance with evolving GHG regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Calculate and report GHG emissions in accordance with EPA and other regulatory requirements.
- Utilize and maintain environmental modeling software and databases for emissions calculations and reporting.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for GHG reporting and emissions inventories.
- Collaborate with internal teams to improve emissions tracking and reporting accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations related to air quality and emissions.
- Analyze regulatory changes and emerging environmental policies, assessing their potential impact on company operations.
- Additional responsibilities may include environmental database design and management, as well as participation in environmental trade groups and conferences.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Knowledge of emissions quantification methodologies and GHG inventory management.
- Strong understanding of federal GHG reporting requirements, including EPA's Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program (GHGRP) and related state regulations.
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of air quality regulations and how they apply to the natural gas midstream, crude oil & finished products transportation sector, and NGL processing industries is desirable.
- Familiarity with emissions modeling and simulation software such as BR&E ProMax, BREEZE TankESP, or similar tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, with the ability to manage large datasets.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision, prioritize multiple tasks, and meet strict deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with various stakeholders at all levels of management.
- Ability to coordinate several projects and communicate well with various operational, commercial, and engineering groups while driving continuous improvement.
- The ideal candidate should have working knowledge of greenhouse gas lifecycle analysis and/or product carbon footprint analysis.
- ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) reporting experience is a plus.
Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:- The Engineer level requires a Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline and 3-6 years of relevant job related experience
- The Senior Engineer level requires a Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline and 6-10 years of relevant job related experience
Working Conditions:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
- Normal office working conditions and field work
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
- Occasional overnight travel may be required.
- Visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment will occur.
