Position Purpose The Seasonal Solid Waste & Recycling Worker will assist the department in the maintenance of grounds and facilities at both the landfill and material recovery facility. This position is open to individuals 16 years and older. Workers may be assigned to either the Landfill Division or the Recycling Division of the Recycling & Solid Waste Department based on daily operational needs.
Hours: 7AM-3:30PM Monday-Friday with possibilities of overtime
Seasonal position and non-benefit eligible

Key Responsibilities - Maintains landfill shop service areas, cleans and organizes tools, and performs minor equipment repairs.
- Cleans and washes equipment, vehicles, and/or facilities, excluding the MRF.
- Operates equipment such as, mowers, pickup trucks, weed eaters, etc. (that do not require a Commercial Driver's License).
- Performs hand work using shovels, post hole diggers, rakes, etc.
- Performs litter control/pick-up within the R&SW property limits not including the active landfill area.
- Uses basic hand and power tools in servicing equipment and making minor repairs to facilities or on-site.
- Works in the small vehicle area cleaning, sweeping, picking up materials, and placing them in the proper containers for shipment or disposal.
- Assists the Recycling program with the collection of materials in the County Clean Sweep Program.
- Assists supervisors with project-related field tasks as needed.
- Follows safety rules and guidelines as established by the County and/or state/federal law.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education/Certifications/Experience Requirements - Must be at least 16 years old or older and must possess and maintain valid Drivers license
Required or Preferred Skills- Ability to follow safety protocols and work independently or with a team.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Ability to handle physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and working outdoors in various weather conditions. Able to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
- No prior experience required; on-the-job training provided.
- Note: This position is ideal for individuals looking to gain hands-on work experience and develop practical skills in environmental services, maintenance, and equipment operation.
