Position Specific DescriptionThe Wind Fleet Electrical team is seeking an engineering candidate to support the operation and maintenance of the NextEra Energy Resources wind turbine electrical systems.
Applicants should have experience in one or more of the following areas: - Electrical Systems (up to 690VAC, 230VDC)
- Electrical Sliprings
- Electric Motor and Drive Systems:
- Motors: DC Series, DC Compound Wound, AC Permanent Magnet Synchronous, brakes, resolvers, encoders
- AC to DC and DC to AC Power Converters
- Batteries and/or Ultra Capacitors
- Circuit breakers, contactors, relays and fuses
- Power Electronic & Control systems
- Electrical parts repair processes
- Passion for data mining and analytics
Previous experience with pitch systems and/or wind turbines desired but not required:
Basic Requirements: - Electrical Engineering Degree or 5+ years of equivalent experiences
- Willing and able to climb wind turbines and access turbine hub
- Have experience writing repair, operations, and/or maintenance procedures and specifications
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within teams
- Willing to work in an office environment
- Ability and interest to learn and self-teach new skills and technologies
- Ability to communicate and present to leadership
- Basic financial and business acumen. Can translate engineering solutions into financial benefit to business.
- Ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects and deliverables
- Data driven decision maker
- Estimated travel 20% to wind sites and vendor shops
Additional information on team:The Wind Fleet team is within the Power Generation Division of NextEra Engineering Resources. The team supports the operation and maintenance of 14000+ Wind Turbines across North America from headquarters in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. The goal of the Electrical Wind Fleet team is to increase uptime of the fleet and decrease operation and maintenance costs. Responsibilities include
- Root Cause Analysis for fleet level issues
- Repair Processes: Repair specifications, repair vendor qualifications, partnering with vendors on new procedures and opportunities
- Drive quality, reliability, availability, and safety improvement initiatives using a data driven mindset. Solutions include component and data-analytic (AI).
- Remotely support operations teams on difficult turbine specific troubleshoots
- Mentor wind fleet site teams on site level quality improvement initiatives
