Pay: $75,000-$85,000/year.

We are seeking an experienced, successful, and engaged Environmental Outreach Manager to join our team. This position is expected to work out of our office at 2765 Lafayette St. in Santa Clara and limited job-related travel may be required.
Position Summary:
GreenWaste is seeking to fill the position of Environmental Outreach Manager to provide support to one or more facilities. Under the supervision of the GreenWaste of Palo Alto General Manager, the Environmental Outreach Manager will implement GreenWaste of Palo Alto Outreach program.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Programs:
- Supervise and oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Outreach Program.
- Ensure programs and services offered to customers contribute to the Company's mission and reflect zero waste goals and priorities.
- Monitor the day-to-day delivery of the programs and services to ensure consistent delivery and identify opportunities to improve quality.
- Oversee the planning, implementation, execution, and evaluation of special projects and/or services.
- Work with corporate management, City staff and representatives of elected officials to scope, plan, develop and implement the Zero Waste Program
- Provide support and hands-on assistance to Environmental Outreach Coordinators in the execution of their programmatic responsibilities as appropriate.
- Initiate and lead programmatic development and expansion by building partnerships.
- Scope and review all collateral and promotional materials.
Community Relations & Advocacy:
- Provide a visible presence or "face" for GreenWaste through public interactions with the community.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of current and emerging issues affecting the management of solid waste in Palo Alto, the bay area and throughout California.
- Establish good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with community groups, politicians, and other organizations to help achieve the goals of the Company and of the Agreement.
- Communicate with stakeholders to keep them informed of programmatic accomplishments and the availability of new and enhanced services.
- Represent GreenWaste at community events to enhance the Company's community profile and to both engage and educate the community in zero waste efforts.
- Identify, assess, and inform corporate management of internal and external issues that affect or have the potential to affect the delivery of the Program.
- Maintain responsibility for all media correspondence and issues relating to the service area.
Operations:
- Maintain responsibility for the day-to-day implementation of the Outreach Plan and ensure all requirements of Agreement are being implemented
- Work with the Customer Service Manager and Operations Manager to collect and analyze data to meet all reporting requirements outlined in the Agreement.
- Ensure Program services meet the expectations of customers, the Company, and the city.
- Collaborate with City to identify and pursue supplemental program funding through grants.
Human Resources:
- Oversee the implementation of the human resources policies, procedures, and practices, and establish and maintain positive, healthy, and safe work environment.
- Provide new employee's comprehensive orientation and provide appropriate and timely training.
- Foster effective teamwork between the drivers and the EOCs.
- Manage, coach and mentor staff to improve performance and initiate disciplinary action as necessary.
Implement a performance management process for staff.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to lead Program with vision, enthusiasm and a "can do" attitude.
- Experience in the recycling and/or solid waste industry.
- Experience creating effective networks with community service organizations, governmental agencies, elected officials to implement a multi-faceted education and outreach program.
- Knowledge of laws relating to solid waste reduction in California.
- Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software. Experience in the Adobe Creative Suite a plus.
- Ability to communicate effectively and speak, listen, and write in a clear, thorough, and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques.
- Ability to foster teamwork by working cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance operational effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, public policy, communications, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of increasingly responsible experience implementing a highly visible and complex community-wide Public Outreach and Education program.
- 2 years professional experience in organizational management including program/project management.
Language Skill:
- Proficiency in English and/or Spanish
Physical Demands:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Ability to physically push, pull and lift objects up to 20lbs
- Prolonged standing or walking (events)
Work Environment:
Typical work week is Monday through Friday. Will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions. Ability to work in setting with frequent changes in equipment, start/end time, service city/town and routes based on the operational needs for the day and or week.
