Click on the following link to see a little of what we have to offer:JOB DESCRIPTIONDESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:The Aquatic Specialist Assistant is responsible for managing the daily Aquatic Center operations.
EXAMPLES OF WORK: (Note: These examples are intended merely as illustrations of the various types of work performed.)
- Responsible for supervision of part-time/seasonal aquatic center staff.
- Works in direct contact with Lifeguards, Swim Instructors, Fitness Instructors and other staff, maintaining the facility and conducting programs in the Aquatic Center.
- Supervises Aquatic Center operations in the absence of the Specialist.
- Acts as a liaison between aquatic staff, the Specialist and all other Summit on the Park staff.
- Assists with staff recruitment, training, and evaluations of part-time/seasonal staff.
- Handles guest concerns and phone calls; reports situations that cannot be addressed immediately to the Specialist.
- Maintains the chemical and filtration systems; informs maintenance staff when unfavorable conditions cannot be corrected by the aquatic staff on duty.
- Monitors supplies and equipment used in the Aquatic Center and updates the Specialist as needed.
- Completes required forms, including Summit on the Park Personnel, County Health Department, and Risk Management Group forms.
- Oversees Aquatic Center's Emergency Action Plan and unscheduled pool closures.
- Attends and assists with staff meetings as required.
- Teaches and/or assists with at least four hours of in-service, Swim Instructor classes or Lifeguard classes each month.
- Maintains professionalism in the Aquatic Center; reports any irregularities to the Specialist.
- Assists the Specialist with conducting and continuously improving all aquatic programs and special events.
- Acts as a substitute when Lifeguard/Swim Instructor is absent or late and assists as needed with Lifeguard/Swim Instructor duties.
- Assists in completing facility specific tasks, including reports, training, schedules, and building supervision in the absence of a building attendant.
- Coordinates efforts during emergency situations in the absence of a full-time facility supervisor.
- Based on business need and availability, may be assigned to teach private classes (group and/or adapted swim lessons) at a premium rate.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:- Current lifeguard, C.P.R. and First Aid certification from the American Red Cross or Jeff Ellis International required.
- If certified by the American Red Cross, the applicant must cross-train into the Jeff Ellis International Program prior to working independently.
- Must possess Summit Swim Instructor certification within 90 days of hire.
- Must pass pre-employment water, C.P.R., and first aid exam.
- Minimum age of 18 years old.
- Ability to withstand exposure to chemicals commonly used in swimming pool environments.
- A minimum of one year supervisory experience or one year of Summit on the Park aquatic experience required.
- Previous experience dealing with the public in a mature and responsible manner.
- Ability to clearly communicate procedures, problems, and policies with fellow employees and the public in a tactful and courteous manner.
- Ability to work a wide variety of shifts, including afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays and substitute when needed.
- This is an "At-Will" position: Work assignments and hours are scheduled based on availability, division requirements and within the confines of the budget. Schedules and work hours are not guaranteed and are subject to change at any time due to division needs, budgeting constraints and staff availability.

- This is a variable-hour job opportunity. Hours will fluctuate week to week. Work hours are determined based on workload and availability. An employee in this position will primarily work during a defined season and may be scheduled to work intermittently during the remainder of the year.
