This newly created position within Huron's Global Digital Capability will support the Digital Growth portfolio leadership team in driving the strategic growth and expansion of the portfolio's market offerings, focusing on delivering innovative solutions that enhance customer engagement and support broader front-office objectives to advance clients' strategic growth initiatives. The formation of the Growth Portfolio team is part of a long-term investment strategy to position Huron in front of a new set of clients and opportunities.
The Emerging Energy Strategist will join our Distributed Generation Pod, a specialized team focused on shaping go-to-market strategies, sales enablement solutions, and operational improvements for clients across the renewable energy value chain. By leveraging strategy consulting, renewable energy expertise, and business development acumen you will support renewable suppliers, portfolio owners, and buyers of renewable energy to grow in their markets.
This role requires an entrepreneurial mindset, a passion for building and iterating quickly, and the ability to work directly with clients to define and implement solutions tailored to their needs. We are looking for someone who will thrive in an agile, pod-based structure, working alongside product managers, solution architects, industry SMEs, data specialists, change experts, and client-facing consultants. RESPONSIBILITIES - Advise clients on sales process maturity, procurement strategy, client expansion, portfolio management, operational efficiencies, and strategic growth opportunities to improve business performance in the renewable energy sector.
- Guide clients through the end-to-end business development lifecycle, from greenfield portfolio development to land acquisition to project activation.
- Support clients in finding buyers, navigating local regulations, securing financing, and coordinating deal teams to drive successful project execution.
- Help clients optimize existing renewable energy assets, including PPA renegotiation, asset monetization, and revenue enhancement strategies.
- Identify and implement upsell and cross-sell opportunities, supporting clients in expanding services, increasing customer retention, and driving additional revenue streams.
- Conduct market analysis to evaluate trends, policy shifts, and demand drivers (e.g., AI and data centers) that influence the renewable energy landscape.
- Support client engagements from discovery through implementation, working cross-functionally to gather requirements, define tailored solutions, and ensure alignment with industry best practices.
- Communicate insights, recommendations, and strategies effectively to senior executives and clients.
- Operate with an entrepreneurial mindset, building and scaling innovative solutions within an established consulting firm.
- Rapidly develop, test, and refine solutions based on real user feedback and evolving business needs.
- Navigate ambiguity, test ideas quickly, and iterate to refine market offerings in a fast-paced environment.
QUALIFICATIONS - 5-8 years of experience in energy consulting, renewable energy markets, or a related sector.
- Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing energy strategies, with a focus on DER and energy resilience.
- In-depth knowledge of renewable energy technologies, market dynamics, and regulatory frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of the business and project development lifecycle from early-stage opportunities through engineering and construction and commissioning.
- Demonstrated understanding of the business development lifecycle for existing and net new clients and associated stakeholders.
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment, taking ideas from concept to execution with speed and agility.
- Strong analytical skills, capable of interpreting complex energy data to inform strategic decisions.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities, with proficiency in conveying technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Experience facilitating workshops, meetings, and co-design sessions to align stakeholders and refine solutions.
- Ability to build strong client relationships and influence decision-makers at all levels.
- Experience working in matrixed organizations or cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field. A master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Energy Manager) are advantageous.
- Willingness to travel up to 50%.

The estimated base salary for this job is $140,000 - $170,000 USD. The range represents a good faith estimate of the range that Huron reasonably expects to pay for this job at the time of the job posting. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to specific skills or certifications, years of experience, market changes, and required travel. This job is also eligible to participate in Huron's annual incentive compensation program, which reflects Huron's pay for performance philosophy. Inclusive of annual incentive compensation opportunity, the total estimated compensation range for this job is $161,000 - $212,500 USD. The job is also eligible to participate in Huron's benefit plans which include medical, dental and vision coverage and other wellness programs. The salary range information provided is in accordance with applicable state and local laws regarding salary transparency that are currently in effect and may be implemented in the future.
