Job Description:The primary purpose of the Sustainability Manager role is to oversee sustainability initiatives at Fortis jobsites, work collaboratively across other Fortis teams to provide sustainability education and support, and manage the reporting of Fortis's expanding corporate sustainability program under the direction of the Senior Sustainability Manager. The Sustainability Manager will have an exciting opportunity to help influence the company's future sustainability standards and direction.
Responsibilities:- Manages Fortis corporate sustainability reporting, including embodied carbon, construction waste, jobsite emissions, and others. Oversees dashboards and reports data internally and externally to relevant stakeholders.
- Holds project kickoff calls with site, design, and owner teams to ensure Fortis and client sustainability standards are implemented on projects.
- Manages sustainability proposal language development based on understanding clients' sustainability goals and supports project interviews/ business development efforts.
- Works collaboratively across Fortis teams to educate them on Fortis sustainability standards and manages company-wide sustainability communication.
- Provides education to external market partners (subcontractors, manufacturers) on key sustainability initiatives impacting Fortis's goals.
- Builds relationships with site teams and other Fortis team members to vet sustainability initiatives on site.
- Supports Senior Sustainability Manager in providing feedback on Sustainability Team performance and planning.
- Support new Fortis regions in pursuing project work and understanding sustainability opportunities and constraints in local markets where Fortis is expanding.
- Assist in other duties as assigned, relevant to the achievement of the position's and team's objectives.
Required Qualifications: - 4-6 years of experience in a sustainability role
- Deep knowledge of green building and/or ESG standards (LEED, Living Building Challenge, CDP Reporting, EcoVadis, SBTI, etc.).
- Ability to work independently and operate as a peer leader in a team environment.
- Ability to work successfully on a construction jobsite with site teams and subcontractors.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record in accordance with Fortis policy.
Preferred Qualifications: - LEED AP preferred or similar related accreditation.
- Experience in the construction, architecture, or manufacturing field preferred.
Travel Requirements:- 25% travel if located in Portland or Salt Lake City. If located elsewhere, up to 50% travel required for first 6 months.
- All Fortis positions require some level of driving
