Job DescriptionThe Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is looking for a knowledgeable and detail-oriented individual to fill the
Stormwater Environmental Manager position, assisting in managing the UDOT Stormwater Management Program.
Principal DutiesAs the Stormwater Environmental Manager you will:
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines.
- Identify programmatic needs and oversee stormwater training programs.
- Write, summarize, and review compliance documents, reports, memorandums and related materials based on research, investigation, or analysis; make recommendations on findings.
- Manage data and develop databases and dashboards.
- Work with project managers, consultants, regulatory agencies and local governments to actively ensure stormwater regulatory requirements are communicated and met in a professional and efficient manner.
- Implement and maintain policies and procedures in response to changes in UDOT policy, state and federal laws.
- Supervise staff and facilitate a collaborative work environment.
- Interpret, clarify, explain and apply agency policy and procedures, business practices, federal or state laws and regulations to internal and external partners and stakeholders.
- Manage contracts related to stormwater permit compliance.

Minimum QualificationsThe qualified candidate for this position is someone who:
- Has a Bachelor's degree, or higher, in an environmental discipline, engineering or a related field with two (2) or more years related experience OR six (6) years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
PreferencesPreference may be given to those with one or more of the following:
- Experience with Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) regulations and compliance.
- Experience leading and directing teams of professionals.
- Is willing to go above and beyond to serve as a resource to others.
- Will lead by example.
- Willing and able to report to the Salt Lake City location
