Job DescriptionThe role will be to conduct wildlife/plant habitat assessments and surveys. To collect, compile, and analyze geospatial data using GPS equipment and GIS software. Prepare biological assessments/evaluations and survey reports, monitor construction activities, and other duties assigned.
Job Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Skills): - Minimum of one (1) year of experience
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in wildlife biology, botany, biology, ecology, natural resources, or closely related
- Field experience in the Southwestern US with native threatened/endangered wildlife or plant species
- Experience preparing environmental regulatory compliance documents such as biological assessments/evaluations is preferred
- Knowledge of Arizona flora and fauna
- General understanding of the federal Endangered Species Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, National Environmental Policy Act, and Clean Water Act
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- General computer hardware and software skills.
- Proficiency with GIS software and GPS equipment is preferred
- Ability to work closely with fellow employees and clients
- Ability to work independently on one's own initiative as well as a member of a diverse team
- Ability to foster a positive work environment and organize and handle multiple assignments
- Training and experience with Western burrowing owl surveys and nesting migratory bird surveys is preferred
- Training and experience with desert tortoise surveys and monitoring is preferred
- Training and experience with native plant surveys is preferred
- Ability to pass a background check
- Valid Driver's License, with the ability to maintain insurability under the company's insurance carrier
Other Requirements:- Ability to work in harsh outdoor conditions (heat, cold, dust, wind, and rough terrain)
- Ability to travel with overnight stays for extended periods
- Ability to climb stairs without assistance
- Ability to lift 30 pounds and carry a 30-pound backpack for at least 1 hour
- Ability to use a computer while sitting for extended periods daily
