ERM is seeking an experienced
Principal Consultant, Environmental Assessment and Permitting, Power and Renewables to manage environmental permitting and CEQA/NEPA for large-scale capital development projects for power and technology sector clients. As a senior manager, you will contribute your leadership, client relationships, and technical consulting skills to support the growth of ERM's business and client base in California while networking with ERM's Capital Project Delivery technical team to share multi-disciplinary resources and best practices across the industry. ERM'S CAPITAL PROJECT DELIVERY SERVICE:ERM's Capital Project Delivery (CPD) team focuses on supporting development of projects in the power, technology, telecommunications, mining, chemical, transport, and infrastructure sectors. Our goal is always the same: assisting our clients in achieving project success, from planning through construction and operation, while meeting expectations for assessment and management of impacts on environmental, social, health, and cultural resources. By helping clients bring these issues into the project planning process early, we seek to help our clients meet environmental/social performance objectives, enable savings in capital and operating costs, and avoid significant approval and other delays.
ERM's CPD service offering has been ERM's highest growth area globally, growing over 20% per year for the past 5 years. You will become part of a vibrant technical community with more than 1,000 CPD professionals globally, representing the full range of technical disciplines, with sector experience across the board. What ERM's team is perhaps best known for is supporting some of the most challenging development projects in the world. It is this reputation that attracts and retains the highly skilled consultants who comprise ERM's Capital Project Delivery team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Manage and provide environmental technical expertise on projects and related activities in support of ERM clients' capital development projects (i.e., diversified energy, power generation, electrical transmission, and renewable energy projects).
- Lead preparation of EIRs/EAs/EISs and associated management plans in compliance with CEQA and NEPA. Contribute to preparing impact assessment deliverables, serving in roles ranging from lead technical expert to quality review.
- Manage state and federal permitting and compliance associated with capital and maintenance projects.
- Oversee multiple projects within client's scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
- Prepare technical proposals, including development of technical scopes and cost estimates, and participate in business development with existing clients and identified leads. Maintain client relationships to support repeat business.
- Collaborate with other ERM IAP practitioners to execute impact assessment projects (services within our IAP service area include environmental impact assessment, land planning, facility siting & permitting, risk assessment and water resources management).
- Mentor junior- and mid-level consulting staff.
- Build strong collaborative relationships with other ERM employees.
REQUIREMENTS:- BA/BS/MS in environmental studies, planning, geography, civil or environmental engineering or related field.
- 12+ of impact assessment and permitting experience, including consulting for private-sector clients.
- High degree of technical competence and broad knowledge of impact assessment best practices, with a solid grasp of the key impact assessment and management issues within the power sector.
- Well-developed teambuilding and influencing skills; unquestioned integrity; and the experience, confidence, and stature to effectively address client and business needs and challenges.
- Project Management experience including scope, schedule and budgeting.
- Solid experience building sustaining relationships with major clients.
- Excellent writing, communication, presentation, strategic thinking, and "people" skills.
For the Principal Consultant, Environmental Assessment and Permitting (Principal Level) position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $102,000 - $152,400 USD. An employee's pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.
We also may have instances where compensation may be outside of the range, based on the factors noted above. This job is also eligible for an annual discretionary based performance bonus.
