Job SummaryEnsures that DTE Electric's assets are maximizing energy production and operating at their design point. Works closely with more experienced technicians, assisting with operating and maintaining utility scale solar photovoltaic electric systems. Responsibilities also include monitoring, routine inspections, recordkeeping, and various other duties.
Key Accountabilities - Conducts planned maintenance as well as supporting corrective maintenance activities.
- Performs regular site inspections and reports on repair needs.
- Assists with battery energy storage system maintenance, including monitoring and site inspections.
- Assists with troubleshooting, testing, and repairing equipment as required for both solar equipment and battery energy storage systems.
- Performs remote diagnostic checks and equipment resets as needed.
- Maintains records in computer-based work management program.
- Performs inventory management tasks, including parts counts and providing replenishment requests.
- Provides input to create and revise standard work procedures and operating instructions.
- Prioritizes safety daily, participating in site safety meetings, identifying job hazards, and providing work process improvements.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements - High School diploma or GED and 1 year of electrical experience or experience in operation & maintenance of renewable energy projects
Other QualificationsPreferred: - Associate Degree in Electrical-related field
- Technical certificate in energy or related discipline
- Solar Service Technician Certification
- North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) Certification
- Knowledge of plant level controls and low voltage equipment
- Knowledge of electrical safety procedures
Other Requirements: - Ability to travel to other locations
- Must have valid driver's license
- Must complete all required training with a passing score within 12 months of employment
- Ability to learn technical aspects of print reading and diagnostics
- Comfortable working with up to 1,500VDC and 1,000VAC
- Basic data acquisition and networking systems knowledge
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, logical reasoning, written and verbal communication skills
- Keep work vehicles, tools, and equipment in good working condition
- General computer proficiency
- Must be able to push, pull and lift tools and equipment weighing up to 75 lbs
