South Post Oak Recycling Center is a family owned and operated business since 1994. We recycle and buy nonferrous and ferrous metals as well as electronics. We've been a trusted partner and recycler to numerous companies and people for over 26 years. This is done by operating safely, offering the highest levels of service, implementing practices that minimize the impact on our environment, having a positive impact on our community, constantly seeking to improve, thinking differently and having fun.
We are seeking a seeks a dynamic and experienced General Manager to oversee daily operations, driving strategic initiatives, and ensuring the company meets its financial and operational goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operations management, team leadership, and a passion for sustainability.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic plans to improve operational efficiency and achieve long-term business goals.
- Analyze market trends, industry developments, and competitive landscape to identify growth opportunities.
- Formulate policies and procedures that align with the company's mission and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the daily operations of the recycling facility, ensuring processes run smoothly and efficiently.
- Implement best practices in recycling and waste management to maximize productivity and minimize costs.
- Monitor and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure operational excellence.
- Analyze financial reports and data to identify areas for cost reduction and increased profitability.
- Oversee billing, invoicing, and financial transactions to maintain accurate financial records.
- Lead, mentor, and motivate a diverse team of employees, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to recycling and waste management.
- Measure and report on the company's environmental performance and sustainability goals.
- Stay current with advancements in recycling technologies and integrate innovative solutions where appropriate.
- Prepare and present regular reports on operational performance, and strategic initiatives
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and community meetings.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Environmental Science, or a related field, preferred, OR at least of 5 years of experience in operations management, preferably in the recycling, or related industry.
- Proven track record of leadership and team management.
- Strong financial acumen and experience with budgeting and financial analysis
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Passion for sustainability and environmental stewardship. Knowledge
Work Environment
- Occasional travel may be required for business meetings, conferences, and client visits.
- The role may involve exposure to varying environmental conditions within the recycling facility.
- Frequent bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
- Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
- Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress.
