Community Energy Resilience Policy Manager
Reports to: Community Energy Resilience Director

Status: Full-time
Salary Range: $68,000 - $78,000
The Climate Center is seeking a Program Manager to advance our climate policy work and provide critical program support to achieve our Community Energy Resilience goals. They will work with the CER Director to develop and advocate for enactment of California policy to create what The Climate Center calls The Grid for the Future: dramatic acceleration in the construction of distributed clean energy. The Program Manager will gain a variety of skills integral to their development as a climate policy professional through independent work, coalition work, and as a part of a high-functioning, ambitious, and supportive team.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Community Energy Resilience Policy Manager will collaborate on developing Climate Center policy positions
 and program development. The Community Energy Resilience Policy Manager will research and draft climate center policy for legislative and regulatory purposes,
communicate with interested stakeholders, and work with others on the Community Energy
Resilience (CER) team on policy development and advocacy.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage research projects related to statewide community energy resilience policy;
- Work on policy with partners including but not limited to environmental justice groups, environmental organizations, industry and other nonprofits;
- Draft communications materials for policy campaigns, including bill background information, fact sheets, opinion pieces and policy research papers;
- Track bills in the California legislature related to Community Energy Resilience;
- Collaborate with the CER team to design effective, purposeful meetings including internal, external and coalition meetings via Zoom and in-person;
- Complete research and policy-related work and reporting for CER-related grants as directed;
- Follow and engage in relevant regulatory proceedings before the California Public Utilities Commission and the California Energy Commission, including drafting and submitting comments for The Climate Center;
- Other related tasks and duties as assigned by the CER Director
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent and at least two years of related work experience
- Demonstrated acumen in climate science, policy, and environmental justice principles
- Familiarity with the legislative process and the distributed renewable energy landscape
- Experience working in coalitions and building partnerships
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Excellent written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle competing priorities
- Self-motivated and ability to work both independently and as a part of a team
- Highly organized and ability to pay close attention to detail
- Proficiency with Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and online platforms necessary for a remote work environment
Salary Range and Benefits
The salary range for this role is $68,000 - $80,000.

- Paid vacation of 3 weeks per year to start
- 7 scheduled holidays, plus winter break (Dec. 25-Jan. 1) and 2 floating holidays
