Early-Career Environmental / Water Resources Engineer in our
Austin, TX office, you will have the opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-world situations, while also learning the business skills needed for a successful consulting career. In collaboration with top professionals in their field, the candidate will work on complex projects involving innovative civil design, water management challenges, hydrologic/hydraulic analysis, stormwater infrastructure and BMP design, flood inundation mitigation and risk reduction, environmental permitting and compliance, and environmental monitoring.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Civil/infrastructure design and site layout.
- Water resources engineering analyses such as hydrology and hydraulics (H&H) modeling and design.
- Fieldwork such as soil, surface water, and groundwater sampling; drilling, geotechnical investigation, site inspections, and heavy civil contractor oversight.
- Preparation of technical drawings, specifications, engineering documents, and analyses for: civil design, landfill and impoundment design and permitting, site development and grading, water resources engineering/stormwater management, and erosion and sediment controls.
- Performing engineering computations using computer-based technical tools and preparing related calculation packages.
- Technical writing of reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals.
- Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, boater certification, defensive driving certification, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
- Fieldwork: Up to 30%
- Overnight travel: Up to 20%
Education and Licensure- Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering or other applicable discipline. (required)
- Advanced degree in water resources, geotechnical, or environmental engineering. (preferred)
- Current Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification, or the ability to obtain within six months of employment. (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications- Prior internship or full-time experience in civil/environmental consulting or with a civil contractor. (preferred)
- Experience performing civil design and site grading. (preferred)
- Experience with relevant engineering software such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, EPA SWMM, AutoCAD, ArcView, etc. (preferred)
- Outstanding academic credentials and exceptional interpersonal, technical writing, and problem-solving skills. (required)
- Regular field work and overnight travel. (required)
- Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
- Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
