Is work/life balance important to you? If this describes you, we are looking for a talented and ambitious Water Resources Engineer in our Chicago, Illinois office. You will provide engineering expertise on a variety of infrastructure projects, including transportation, storm water, and civil site design projects.
What You Will Be Doing:- Serve as the drainage and water resources technical lead on various complex projects.
- Prepare Phase II engineering plans and specifications for design of stormwater management facilities including storm drainage systems, detention/retention facilities, channels, culverts, and other drainage facilities.
- Perform Phase I stormwater management studies, including Location Drainage Studies, Hydraulic Reports, and Conceptual Drainage Studies.
- Utilize hydraulics and hydrology modeling software to analyze and evaluate the impacts of various proposed improvements.
- Design, analyze, and review grading plans, tributary areas, flow calculations, detention pond sizing, release rates, storm sewer and culvert capacities, and other civil site design elements.
- Prepare drainage design calculations and models to support design recommendations.
- Adhere to company standards for quality assurance and quality control as defined in the quality manual.
- Attend on-site and off-site client meetings.
- Participate in project scoping, fee estimating, proposal preparation, interviews, and negotiations.
- Submit documents to federal, state, and local agencies for code compliance review and obtain permits when required.

Required Qualifications:- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
- 5 to 10 years of drainage / stormwater design or relevant experience.
- Illinois Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience with Illinois Department of Transportation and Illinois Tollway drainage design requirements, policies, and procedures.
- Experience with hydraulics and hydrology modeling software such as HY-8, HEC-RAS, and XPSWMM.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of project team to complete tasks.
- Working knowledge of roadway design software used to prepare engineering and design documents including Open Roads and Open Roads Designer (ORD).
- Knowledge of virtual collaboration tools such as ProjectWise, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Teams.
- Proven communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
Stanley's Approach to FlexibilityWhile some members choose to work out of their local office on a full-time basis, we offer a hybrid schedule for eligible positions consisting of two days a week in the office, two days a week remotely, and Friday being a flexible day that can be worked either in the office or at home. Eligible roles can also offer a compressed workweek schedule. Members who participate will be assigned a 9/80 work schedule, meaning every other Friday off!
