Position Overview:The
Compliance Manager of the South Yuma County, AZ Landfill will ensure compliance with environmental regulations for air and water quality, and solid waste facility permitting, at the municipal solid waste South Yuma County Landfill, located in Yuma County, Arizona. The manager will also ensure the site's landfill, liquid waste solidification, recycling, and composting operations are compliant with all applicable city, county, state, and federal regulations.
Position Responsibilities:- Provide technical, procedural and policy oversight for environmental construction and operation permits and applications.
- Maintain relationships with, and be a liaison to, regulatory agencies.
- Provide environmental support for engineering and operations projects.
- Maintain knowledge of current and proposed environmental regulations and statutes, and provide interpretive guidance, relevant to the landfill's operations.
- Continually assess environmental compliance status of the landfill and associated waste management facilities.
- Assists facilities in the completion of required environmental testing, recordkeeping and reporting requirements. Ensure reports are complete and accurate.
- Provide timely updates of facility status to corporate management.
- Proactively and successfully interact with corporate management, facility staff, regulators, and customers.
QualificationsCandidate Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Environmental Science - Preferred
- 3+ years of environmental compliance experience and/or training - Required
- Industrial facility compliance management experience - Preferred
- Landfill operations experience - Preferred
- Advanced knowledge of current city, county, state, and federal environmental permitting requirements, including: CAA, CWA, NPDES, RCRA, etc. - Required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office platforms
- Exceptional analytical, negotiating, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to organize, prioritize and complete multiple work assignments while meeting deadlines
