Summary:The role of the
Environmental Engineer is a partner with production staff and provides technical and engineering support on sustainable environmental performance at the Pennsuco facility. This includes implementation of internal environmental policies, programs and standards while ensuring environmental compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations. The person in this role is expected to act as a role model on all safety behavior and policy compliance, while helping to create and maintain a high-performance culture.
ResponsibilitiesJob Responsibilities:
- Working with the Environmental, Production, Operations, and Technical Services teams to ensure compliance with all environmental permits through site audits, employee training and administrative recordkeeping and reporting.
- Determine effective methods to correct out of compliance issues.
- Keep current on any regulatory and legislation changes regarding environmental compliance and other legislation requirements and assist in the development of implementation plans to meet the requirements.
- Actively manage and support decarbonization and environmental improvement projects throughout the plant. This includes leading projects, actively supporting project managers, and finding opportunities to continuously improve our daily operations.
- Develop and maintain a strong relationship with the regulatory agencies and act as liaison between our operations and regulatory agencies.
- Provide forward thinking, creative solutions to continuously improve the environmental performance at the facility.
- Utilize available tools (e.g. Velocity EHS, DOMO, SAP) to develop and maintain a database for environmental and permitting information for the Pennsuco facility.
QualificationsEducation and Experience:- BS in Civil, Environmental, Mining Engineering, and Environmental Science, Geology or closely related discipline or equivalent experience required
- 3-5 years of experience in Environmental positions in heavy industrial installations (preferably cement, aggregates, or concrete).
- Understanding of continuous improvement, process and quality control.
- Resourceful, able to quickly and effectively research topics and answer questions
- Strong communication skills, customer service skills and leadership capabilities
- Excellent analytical and judgment skills; ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and experience developing solutions in a team environment.
- Excellent time management skills with ability to coordinate multiple tasks in a fast-paced multimedia environment.
- Possess a positive attitude, growth mindset and willingness to support various internal departments.
